The semantic form arising from the semantic relations of collocational structures is called seman... more The semantic form arising from the semantic relations of collocational structures is called semantic prosody. The concept of semantic prosody is closely related to the concept of collocation. Semantic prosody is the mostly negative, occasionally positive and sometimes neutral quality of a word acquired through its relations with other words in the same collocation. There are few studies on “Collocation” and “Semantic Prosody” of Turkish historical texts. The lack of collocation studies on the historical periods of Turkish, along with the possibility of studying linguistic phenomena using linguistic methods has led us to conduct a study on collocation and semantic prosody from a computational perspective. In our study, it was observed that the necessary vocabulary for the detection of collocation and semantic prosody is present in texts writen in historical Turkish. The subject of collocation is conducted with computer aided methods due to fact that it has become possible to study languages with statistical and rule based computational linguistic methods owing to developments in information technologies. Therefore our study is based on the examination of the verb “to die” with computational modeling methods regarding collocation and semantic prosody.

The third copy (Türkmen Sahra) of The Stories of Dede Korkut, which has a very important place in... more The third copy (Türkmen Sahra) of The Stories of Dede Korkut, which has a very important place in Turkish language and literature, was discovered and brought to the scientific community in recent years, after its first(Dresden) and second(Vatican) copies. The discovery of the new manuscript has become a source of new activity waiting to be examined by reasearchers. The "Dede Korkut Tradition", also accepted as a cultural heritage by UNESCO, is an unmatched field of research that has produced very precious works of Turkish Culture. Owing to developments in the field of information technologies, the processing of languages from phonetics to the structural qualities, from vocabulary to syntax, the analysis of all language components with statistical or rule based computational linguistics methods has become possible. In this context, the subject of "Collocation" that has been studied for the past 25 years in Turkish linguistics is now conducted by computational studies. However there are not many studies in the subject of "Collocation" in Turkish historical texts. The scarcity of collocational studies on the historical periods of Turkish, and the possibility of studying linguistic phenomena using linguistics methods has lead us to conduct a study that examines the subject of collocation with a computational perspective. Therefore we have based our study on the examination of the 13th Story, "Salur Kazan's Killing of the Seven Headed Dragon", in terms of collocational components (clusters and chains) using computational modeling methods.The story was uploaded to the computer as a plain text file (.txt), the collocational vocabulary of the story was processed in Python programming language and in AntConc 3.5.9 (2020) software, then the collocations were studied using different statistical analyses such as Log-likelihood, MI score, T-score and Dice coefficient. Basically algorithms that take into account how many of total usage of the words appear together were used in the method using the criterion of statistical significance. In this way, both the results that belong to the collocational vocabulary determined by linguistic methods, and the results obtained by natural language processing methods were compared and analysed in the context of collocation.

Learning a foreign language is not only about learning it’s grammatical structures and syntactic ... more Learning a foreign language is not only about learning it’s grammatical structures and syntactic properties. It also has a lot to do with encountering a new culture, experiencing it first hand and learning about it. Someone who has encountered a new language and observed people using it natively, will instinctively compare and that new culture to his and come up with several syntheses. Our study objective is to determine and examine linguistic problems, revealing, with what kind of linguistic classifications students struggle throughout the learning process and to examine the advantages of which language learning strategies suits best for Turkish students in middle school and high school levels , as well as, German , Irish , French, Danish ( held by the Comenius Lifelong Learning project to the EU- National Agency support) Spanish at the high school level and college-level Moroccan , South- North- Central African , Iranian and Afghan students ( Gediz University in TOMER ). Three questions have been tried to answered in this study; How do the students classify their linguistic problems, how do their life experiences play a role in them becoming aware of their own linguistic capabilities and lastly, which language learning methods help them best in overcoming difficulties faced in everyday situations.
Our study consists of a B2 level language learner (CEF), the learners’ vocabulary resource, the methodologies used in vocabulary teaching, analyzing the lesson and assessment of the lesson with feedback and results.
The purpose of our study is to model certain methods and explain through examples, the teaching of Turkish language to students of various age groups.

The datas are taken from the departments of computer and linguistics sciences. The purpose of our study is to model certain methods and explain through examples, the teaching of Turkish language to students of various age groups.

Tanzimat Edebiyatı dönemindeki Osmanlıca Türkçesi metinlerin bilgisayar tarafından değişik kriter... more Tanzimat Edebiyatı dönemindeki Osmanlıca Türkçesi metinlerin bilgisayar tarafından değişik kriterlere göre sınıflandırılması, özellikle çok sayıda metin söz konusu olduğunda önem arz etmektedir.Bu metinlerin incelenen konu veya kişiyi olumlu veya olumsuz olarak incelediğini, metinde iletilen duyguyu bilgisayara çıkartmak için metinde geçen kelimelerden bir duygu sözlüğü oluşturulması gerekmektedir.Latin harfleriyle alınan metinsel veri, belli ön hazırlık ve temizlik işlemlerinin ardından bilgisayar tarafından çeşitli yöntemlerle incelenmektedir.Bir metnin otomatik olarak olumlu veya olumsuz olarak sınıflandırılması, kelimelerin aynı şekilde sınıflandırıldığı dile özgü sözlüklere ihtiyaç duymaktadır.Aynı şekilde metinlerin duygu halleriyle ilişkilendirilmesi de aynı kaynağa muhtaçtır.Bu sözlükler İngilizcede oldukça yaygın olmakla birlikte, ne yazık ki Türkçede bu tür bir sözlük oluşturmaya yönelik girişimler ya eksik kalmış ya da kamuoyuna açık hale getirilememiştir.Çalışmamızda Türkçe konuşan bir kullanıcıya-bir arayüz yoluylaçalışmada incelenen sözler için olumlu/olumsuz ve o sözün duygu algısıyla ilgili seçimler yaptırılarak sonuçların kaydedilmesi yoluyla kamunun ve araştırmacıların kullanımına açık "Türkçe Duygu Sözlüğü" oluşturulması yolunda bir ilk adım atılmıştır.Araştırmamızda Türkçeye Arapça ve Farsçadan geçen sözlerin özel durumu incelenmiştir. Kaynak metin olarak İbrahim Şinasi'nin Mukaddime'si ve Ahmet Haşim'in Piyale Önsözü alınmış, metindeki Arapça ve Farsça kökenli sözler, bir program ile deney kullanıcısından olumlu, olumsuz ve yansız olma ile uyandırdığı duygular bakımından kaydedilerek metnin tamamının duygu içeriği incelenmiştir. Hazırlanan Duygu Şablonu uygulamasından yola çıkarak kullanıcıların metinlerdeki Arapça ve Farsça kökenli kelimlere yönelik algısı hakkında da fikir sahibi olunmuştur.

Yabancı bir dili öğrenmek, sadece o dile ait dil özelliklerini; gramer yapılarını ve aksan özelli... more Yabancı bir dili öğrenmek, sadece o dile ait dil özelliklerini; gramer yapılarını ve aksan özelliklerini öğrenmek değil aynı zamanda yeni bir kültürle karşılaşmak, o kültürü her yönüyle- folklorik ve tarihi yönden- tanımak ve öğrenmektir. “Yeni” bir dille karşılaşan kişi, o sahadaki diğer kişileri çok boyutlu halde tanıyarak kendi kültürü ve öğrendiği kültür arasında ilişkiler kurar, karşılaştırmalar yapar ve sonuçta bunların sentezini yapar. Medeniyetlerin karşılaşması sürecinin önemli bir parçası olan lisan eğitiminde ikincil yabancı dil öğretimi ve diğer eğitimlerde pek çok öğretim-eğitim materyali vardır. Bunlar arasında toplumu yansıtan kaynak kitap setleri- konu ile ilgili yapılmış ve yapılmakta olan araştırmalar, çalışmalar- olduğu kadar destekleyici, yön verici ve dil öğretiminde hedeflenen pek çok kazanımı sağlatıcı etkinlikler de yer almaktadır. Bizim çalışmamızın amacı, Türkçeyi yabancı dil olarak öğrenen ortaokul ve lise düzeyinde Alman, İrlandalı, Fransız, Danimarkalı (Comenius Hayat Boyu Öğrenme Projesi AB-Ulusal Ajans desteği ile gerçekleşen) yine lise düzeyinde İspanyol, Çinli ve Amerikalı öğrencilerle yapılan (Değişim Programında AB-Ulusal Ajans desteği ile) ve üniversite düzeyinde Faslı, Güney- Kuzey- Orta Afrikalı, İranlı ve Afgan öğrencilerin (Gediz Üniversitesi TÖMER’de) karşılaştıkları dilsel problemleri incelemek, öğrenme süreçleri boyunca ne tür dilbilimsel sınıflandırmalarla mücadele ettiklerini ortaya koymak ve hangi dil öğrenme stratejilerinden yararlandıklarının incelenmesidir. Bu çalışmada üç araştırma sorusuna cevap bulunmaya çalışılmıştır: Öğrenciler dilsel problemlerini nasıl tanımlıyorlar, yaşamsal deneyimleri dilsel yeterliklerinin farkına varmalarına ve kültürlerarası yeterliklerinin gelişmesine nasıl yardımcı oluyor, ve son olarak da gerçek iletişim ortamlarında hangi dil öğrenme stratejileri problemlerinin üstesinden gelmesine yardımcı oluyor? Ayrıca okuma becerisinin geliştirilmesinde sözcük öğretiminin önemini örnek bir ders gereci geliştirme önerisiyle açıklamaktır. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde bunlar yer alırken Avrupa Ortak Başvuru Metnine ve çalışmada ele alınacak olan B2 dil düzeyindeki öğrenicinin sözcük düzeyi betimlemelerine, ardından sözcük öğretiminin/öğreniminin önemine, sözcük öğretiminde kullanılan yöntem, teknik ve stratejilere, uygulama bölümünde ise dersin işlenişine ve etkinliklerin incelenmesine, daha sonra da sonuç ve öneriler bölümüne yer verilecektir.
Çalışmamızın amacı farklı yaş gruplarından öğrencilerin Türkçe öğretimindeki modellemenin ortaya konması ve örnek materyallerle açıklanmasıdır.

Seyitbek Epos which was formed in late 17 th and early 18 th centuries, is a continuiation of Kur... more Seyitbek Epos which was formed in late 17 th and early 18 th centuries, is a continuiation of Kurmanbek Epos, which is a co-text/second narrative of the book "Coodarbeşim-Seyitbek" published in Bişkek, 1971 by Orozbay Urmambetov's Kyrghyz Sciences Academia, Til Cana Institute of Literature. The epos' theme is the battles of Kyrghyz People with others, especially Kalmuks. Thanks to advances in information technologies, the analysis of languages with statistical and rule based computational linguistic methods has become possible. In this context, nowadays the subject of "Collocation" is studied with computational methods. The study of "Oath, War and Loot" concepts in Seyitbek Epos with computational modeling methods was undertaken because this text contains rich semantic conceptualorientational collocation data fit to be used in software. The epos was digitized as a plaintext (.txt) file, the collocation vocabulary was processed in AntConc 3.5.9 (2020) software and the collocations in the text were studied using different statistical analyses such as Log-likelihood, MI score, T-score, and Dice coefficient. In this study where statistical significance was used, algorithms that measure how many times the words have appeared together were used. In this way, the subject of collocation was evaluated by comparing both collocation vocabulary findings detected by the researchers using linguistic methods, and those detected by natural language processing methods.

Also we have researched the virtual sides deeply in these areas. Our study consists of a B2 level language learner (CEF), the learners' vocabulary resource, the methodologies used in vocabulary teaching, analyzing the lesson and assessment of the lesson with feedback and results. The datas are taken from the departments of computer and linguistics sciences. The purpose of our study is to model certain methods and explain through examples, the teaching of Turkish language to students of various age groups.

Tanzimat Edebiyatı dönemindeki Osmanlıca Türkçesi metinlerin bilgisayar tarafından değişik kriter... more Tanzimat Edebiyatı dönemindeki Osmanlıca Türkçesi metinlerin bilgisayar tarafından değişik kriterlere göre sınıflandırılması, özellikle çok sayıda metin söz konusu olduğunda önem arz etmektedir.Bu metinlerin incelenen konu veya kişiyi olumlu veya olumsuz olarak incelediğini, metinde iletilen duyguyu bilgisayara çıkartmak için metinde geçen kelimelerden bir duygu sözlüğü oluşturulması gerekmektedir.Latin harfleriyle alınan metinsel veri, belli ön hazırlık ve temizlik işlemlerinin ardından bilgisayar tarafından çeşitli yöntemlerle incelenmektedir.Bir metnin otomatik olarak olumlu veya olumsuz olarak sınıflandırılması, kelimelerin aynı şekilde sınıflandırıldığı dile özgü sözlüklere ihtiyaç duymaktadır.Aynı şekilde metinlerin duygu halleriyle ilişkilendirilmesi de aynı kaynağa muhtaçtır.Bu sözlükler İngilizcede oldukça yaygın olmakla birlikte, ne yazık ki Türkçede bu tür bir sözlük oluşturmaya yönelik girişimler ya eksik kalmış ya da kamuoyuna açık hale getirilememiştir.Çalışmamızda Türkçe konuşan bir kullanıcıya-bir arayüz yoluylaçalışmada incelenen sözler için olumlu/olumsuz ve o sözün duygu algısıyla ilgili seçimler yaptırılarak sonuçların kaydedilmesi yoluyla kamunun ve araştırmacıların kullanımına açık "Türkçe Duygu Sözlüğü" oluşturulması yolunda bir ilk adım atılmıştır.Araştırmamızda Türkçeye Arapça ve Farsçadan geçen sözlerin özel durumu incelenmiştir. Kaynak metin olarak İbrahim Şinasi'nin Mukaddime'si ve Ahmet Haşim'in Piyale Önsözü alınmış, metindeki Arapça ve Farsça kökenli sözler, bir program ile deney kullanıcısından olumlu, olumsuz ve yansız olma ile uyandırdığı duygular bakımından kaydedilerek metnin tamamının duygu içeriği incelenmiştir. Hazırlanan Duygu Şablonu uygulamasından yola çıkarak kullanıcıların metinlerdeki Arapça ve Farsça kökenli kelimlere yönelik algısı hakkında da fikir sahibi olunmuştur.

Yabancı bir dili öğrenmek, sadece o dile ait dil özelliklerini; gramer yapılarını ve aksan özelli... more Yabancı bir dili öğrenmek, sadece o dile ait dil özelliklerini; gramer yapılarını ve aksan özelliklerini öğrenmek değil aynı zamanda yeni bir kültürle karşılaşmak, o kültürü her yönüyle- folklorik ve tarihi yönden- tanımak ve öğrenmektir. “Yeni” bir dille karşılaşan kişi, o sahadaki diğer kişileri çok boyutlu halde tanıyarak kendi kültürü ve öğrendiği kültür arasında ilişkiler kurar, karşılaştırmalar yapar ve sonuçta bunların sentezini yapar. Medeniyetlerin karşılaşması sürecinin önemli bir parçası olan lisan eğitiminde ikincil yabancı dil öğretimi ve diğer eğitimlerde pek çok öğretim-eğitim materyali vardır. Bunlar arasında toplumu yansıtan kaynak kitap setleri- konu ile ilgili yapılmış ve yapılmakta olan araştırmalar, çalışmalar- olduğu kadar destekleyici, yön verici ve dil öğretiminde hedeflenen pek çok kazanımı sağlatıcı etkinlikler de yer almaktadır. Bizim çalışmamızın amacı, Türkçeyi yabancı dil olarak öğrenen ortaokul ve lise düzeyinde Alman, İrlandalı, Fransız, Danimarkalı (Comenius Hayat Boyu Öğrenme Projesi AB-Ulusal Ajans desteği ile gerçekleşen) yine lise düzeyinde İspanyol, Çinli ve Amerikalı öğrencilerle yapılan (Değişim Programında AB-Ulusal Ajans desteği ile) ve üniversite düzeyinde Faslı, Güney- Kuzey- Orta Afrikalı, İranlı ve Afgan öğrencilerin (Gediz Üniversitesi TÖMER’de) karşılaştıkları dilsel problemleri incelemek, öğrenme süreçleri boyunca ne tür dilbilimsel sınıflandırmalarla mücadele ettiklerini ortaya koymak ve hangi dil öğrenme stratejilerinden yararlandıklarının incelenmesidir. Bu çalışmada üç araştırma sorusuna cevap bulunmaya çalışılmıştır: Öğrenciler dilsel problemlerini nasıl tanımlıyorlar, yaşamsal deneyimleri dilsel yeterliklerinin farkına varmalarına ve kültürlerarası yeterliklerinin gelişmesine nasıl yardımcı oluyor, ve son olarak da gerçek iletişim ortamlarında hangi dil öğrenme stratejileri problemlerinin üstesinden gelmesine yardımcı oluyor? Ayrıca okuma becerisinin geliştirilmesinde sözcük öğretiminin önemini örnek bir ders gereci geliştirme önerisiyle açıklamaktır. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde bunlar yer alırken Avrupa Ortak Başvuru Metnine ve çalışmada ele alınacak olan B2 dil düzeyindeki öğrenicinin sözcük düzeyi betimlemelerine, ardından sözcük öğretiminin/öğreniminin önemine, sözcük öğretiminde kullanılan yöntem, teknik ve stratejilere, uygulama bölümünde ise dersin işlenişine ve etkinliklerin incelenmesine, daha sonra da sonuç ve öneriler bölümüne yer verilecektir.
Çalışmamızın amacı farklı yaş gruplarından öğrencilerin Türkçe öğretimindeki modellemenin ortaya konması ve örnek materyallerle açıklanmasıdır.

Seyitbek Epos which was formed in late 17 th and early 18 th centuries, is a continuiation of Kur... more Seyitbek Epos which was formed in late 17 th and early 18 th centuries, is a continuiation of Kurmanbek Epos, which is a co-text/second narrative of the book "Coodarbeşim-Seyitbek" published in Bişkek, 1971 by Orozbay Urmambetov's Kyrghyz Sciences Academia, Til Cana Institute of Literature. The epos' theme is the battles of Kyrghyz People with others, especially Kalmuks. Thanks to advances in information technologies, the analysis of languages with statistical and rule based computational linguistic methods has become possible. In this context, nowadays the subject of "Collocation" is studied with computational methods. The study of "Oath, War and Loot" concepts in Seyitbek Epos with computational modeling methods was undertaken because this text contains rich semantic conceptualorientational collocation data fit to be used in software. The epos was digitized as a plaintext (.txt) file, the collocation vocabulary was processed in AntConc 3.5.9 (2020) software and the collocations in the text were studied using different statistical analyses such as Log-likelihood, MI score, T-score, and Dice coefficient. In this study where statistical significance was used, algorithms that measure how many times the words have appeared together were used. In this way, the subject of collocation was evaluated by comparing both collocation vocabulary findings detected by the researchers using linguistic methods, and those detected by natural language processing methods.
