Our case study presents the dynamics of trends and initiatives regarding academic writing at Babes-Bolyai University over the last 5 years. It focuses on the developments that have led to the launch of the present training program aimed at developing the research competencies needed to publish relevant research findings, output, or data in English and German academic publications. The research methods used in this chapter include document analysis, project design and results analysis, direct observation, and interviews. Our results offer an insight into the organizational variables and mechanisms that could lead to the development of specific academic writing programs as part of a comprehensive institutional research strategy.

The need to escape conflict and persecution from a war-torn land, as an act of despair or an attempt to survive has always led people to use migration, as an out of necessity strategy 1. The Migration Debate is a comprehensive book on UK immigration law and policy. Sarah Spencer goes... more The Migration Debate is a comprehensive book on UK immigration law and policy. Sarah Spencer goes into detail in describing the often changing laws and regulations applicable to various "types" of migrants in the UK, including asylum seekers and refugees, economic migrant workers, international students, migrants for purposes of family reunification, and victims of trafficking. This delving into details, including types of visas, lengths of stay, and derivative rights of the visa holder, is both the strength and the weakness of this book, depending on what the reader is looking for. If one wishes to find a thesis on migration, rather than a review of British attitudes towards migrants and its reification in law and policy, one might be slightly disappointed. Nevertheless, a close reading of the book in fact reveals two principal arguments made by Spencer. While neither argument is new, both are persuasively argued for, and are aptly supported by the data analyzed in the book, making The Migration Debate a valuable addition to the growing literature on (post) modern day migration. The first insight is that migration is a complex phenomenon that can seldom be controlled by migration policy alone. So, for example, with regard to economic migrants, "[t]he solutions to the level of demand for skilled and low-skilled migrant labour… lie in education, skills and employment policy more than in migration policy" (Spencer, p. 253). Indeed, pull factors might be strong enough either to "convince" the government to open the gates (with the help of lobbyists, such as organized employers) or simply to attract undocumented migrants from overseas. The authority of domestic migration policy-makers is even more clearly limited in the context of refugees, where the political (in)stability in third-world countries, a factor not within the direct control of receiving countries, has serious influence on receiving countries, notwithstanding their internal laws and policies. As Spencer writes, one should not overemphasize this matter, i.e., one should not go overboard to claim that migration policy has no bearing on migration whatsoever and more specifically on controlling the numbers of migrants entering into a country.

The SEDI is based on a set of variables which attempts at reflecting the type of dynamics – regarding demography, education, health, and economics – present in each Indian State. The next move is to seek the homogeneity patterns between the various Indian States with recourse to the clusters multivariate statistic method. Clusters of Indian States highly differentiated from the rest. Especially remarkable are the coastal areas/hinterland dichotomies as well as the significant asymmetries between each Indian State, which suggests the need for a special care in setting up the spatial boundaries prior to its application to regional development policies vis-a-vis its true effectiveness.

This interest is supported by an extended corpus of research literature demonstrating the role of AW interventions in increasing publication rates at academic level and in developing writing competencies (McGrail, Rickard, & Jones, 2007). Our paper present a systematic review of the academic writing intervention published in ISI database between 2001 and 2013. Despite the perceived role of the EU as being a motor of democracy in Europe and an international force
recognized for its transparency and integrity, this complex social, political and economic entity still faces
the dilemma of an asymmetrical manner of implementation of the common economic policies, mainly the
regional policy. Our article focuses on regional disparities, that seem to define the Union, by comparing
the experiences of two former communist countries, Poland and Romania. We start from presenting the
economic advantages and disadvantages of EU membership from the perspective of a new member state,
we continue with some insights on the regional economic disparities within the EU, and we sketch two
country profiles, based on the amount of and the manner in which European funds have been absorbed
and have impacted them.

once again on the international agenda. The relationship between migration and health is multifaceted and varies
across migrant groups or individuals within groups. Sometimes, migration is driven by health issues, and in other
cases the migration journey may worsen the health condition of the migrants and refugees, namely those
migrating out of necessity. In Europe, the public health policies insufficiently address the health problems of the
migrants, especially for displaced persons and irregular migrants. The impact of lockdowns and various socioeconomic restrictions on the most vulnerable labour force are being investigated nowadays, and the SDG
principle “no one is left behind” is seriously challenged. The article aims to reveal several traits of the present
health crisis and its impact on migrants and refugees, the vulnerabilities exacerbated by the crisis, and to identify
potential measures to be taken by host countries in order to reduce the negative impact.
