Caitríona Ní Dhúill is Professor in German at the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, UCC. Her research areas are German, Austrian and comparative literature from the late nineteenth century to the present day; utopian fiction and theory; gender theory; life writing and biography; literature in the Anthropocene.
Her most recent book, Metabiography: Reflecting on Biography (Palgrave 2020) explores the contradictions of biography, charting shifts in approach to the writing and reading of biographies since the Enlightenment. Her first book, Sex in Imagined Spaces: Gender and Utopia from More to Bloch (Legenda 2010) offers a critical account of the relationship between gender discourse and utopian thought. Professor Ní Dhúill has also published widely in the fields of modern German and Austrian literature and thought.
