_9:55 pm_[ucfconservative] | Kerry for President? In 1971, anti-war activist John Kerry penned a book titled The New Soldier. Here is its cover: The men are holding an American flag upside down and are mocking the flag-raising on Iwo Jima atop Mt. Suribachi, February 23, 1945.So, my friends, who exactly are these Vietnam era protestors mocking?Six young Marines, three of whom died on Iwo Jima fighting the Great War, the war to preserve freedom for their generation and generations to come.* Sgt. Mike Strank died on March 1, 1945 when a mortar hit him.* Sgt. Harlon Black was killed later in the day on March 1, 1945. He had taken command of his unit upon the death of Sgt. Strank just a few hours earlier.* Franklin Sousley died on March 21, 1945 on Iwo Jima. He was 19 years old.The remaining three flag raisers survived the battle, but all have since passed away. John Bradley was the last. He died in 1994.The cover of the leading Democratic presidential nominee's book mocks these men.If you don't think it's fair to hold Kerry accountable for what went on the cover of his book (even though he ran the organization that published it), then take a look at how he treated his fellow Vietnam veterans. He smeared them. This from a man who wants to be the Commander-in-Chief. Go figure. (2 Comments |Comment on this) |

_2:07 am_[ucfconservative] | Happy Martin Luther King Jr Holiday Today Americans across the country celebrate the visionary leader Martin Luther King. We can see today the vision of King coming to fruition as African Americans have risen to equal status in our society with employment, college admission, leadership positions and even to the highest levels of our government. Looking at history and the civil rights movement, who has done more for African Americans? Republicans or Democrats? My opinion:Although the African American vote tends be Democrat... it has been the Republicans who voted more votes on the Civil Rights Act, it is the Republican administrations that have had the most diverse administration cabinets, it is Republicans that have been fighting to get race taken off applications in order to avoid racial profiling, it was Republican president Lincoln that the slavery in the South ended under, it is the Republicans who were the abolitionists during the Civil War... yet the Democrats pretend to maintain the party of the minority.Current Mood: contemplative (3 Comments |Comment on this) |
