The methodology of this research is based on the study of the specialized literature by investigating a case study regarding the tourist activity of rural tourism in Vâlcea County. The research hypotheses forecast and serve the general objective of the study, namely presenting that rural tourism can be a realistic solution for the sustainable socioeconomic development of Vâlcea County. This work aims to identify the main development areas of Vâlcea County where the trends of development and practice of rural tourism are significantly important for the Oltenia Region as a first step towards unique research for promotion, sustainability, and socioeconomic development in rural areas.

Based on the connection between the development of tourism, specific activities and touristic destination, the Bucegi Mountains capitalize the presence of some touristic facilities and technical-utility features which may ease the capitalisation, mainly, of the natural potentialsupport for the practice of various forms of tourism: mountainous tourism, recreation tourism, adventure tourism, cave diving, etc. The most important principles of sustainable tourism can be applied to all forms of tourism, including the niche tourism. Consequently, the way some forms of tourism are practised in natural reserve areas must maintain the essential ecological process, so as the aesthetical values or the cultural authenticity of the host communities to promote the traditional values or the culturalhistorical patrimony. Thus, sustainable tourism must contribute to the reduction of the risk of poverty in the local communities.

Competitiveness, as a segment of sustainability, integrated in Romanian local communities, is necessary in order to offer tourists an unmistakable experience of the natural and anthropogenic tourism potential of destinations, to raise the population’s awareness, to preserve traditions, customs and habits and to practice tourism based on sustainability, awareness and without any pollution of terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. The USA represents the United States of Europeans on the Americas, where the demographic surplus migrated from the Old Continent for five centuries, and the great wars that ravaged Europe favored the continuation of European domination, but from the west coast of the Atlantic. Europe, similar to Earth's pulsed gravity in keeping the Moon close, continues to provide US world power, but if the US did not exist, Europe would cease to be Western, becoming Asian and culturally, economically and commercially oriented to the East. Old Europe or the Old Continent, has been economically overtaken in the last decade by the New Europe or the United States, and the merging of the two world decision-making nuclei is now centered on the west coast of the North Atlantic, to the detriment of many European p...

The sustainable management of destinations is essential for tourism development, especially throu... more The sustainable management of destinations is essential for tourism development, especially through the efficient use of spatial and land planning and by controlling the development and investment decisions in the infrastructure and services. Ensuring that the new tourism development is scale and type appropriate to the needs of the local community and environment, the sustainable management can enhance the long-term economic performance and the competitive position of a destination. This requires a support framework involving all stakeholders at regional and local levels, and an efficient structure to facilitate the partnership and the effective leadership. A prerequisite for the existence and the continuity of the quality of tourist destinations in Romania is to remain competitive. Actions taken in this purpose should be considered as part of establishing a sustainable feature, which is one of the most important competitive advantages. Therefore, in order to ensure competitiveness, sustainability and long-term prosperity, tourist destinations should place more emphasis on the full integration of sustainability concerns within their decision-making and management practices and tools. Finally, to achieve a tangible progress, the demand from both the leisure market and the corporate travel profile should send stronger and more consistent signals. Tourists need to be able to develop and strengthen their capacity to make choices for sustainable development. Awareness can facilitate the sustainability and ethical attitudes and practices of responsible individual tourists. The growing understanding of consumers in terms of sustainability might affect tourist destinations to demonstrate this concern and act accordingly, thus increasing the attractiveness -as is the case of Romania.

Danube is an important catalyst for creativity and intercultural dialogue, a constant source of inspiration and a connection and communication bridge between cultures and civilizations developed through commercial, social and cultural relations determined by its proximity…We face the challenge of accelerating the process of overcoming these regional disparities, and in this context we consider that the Danube Strategy is a worthy political innovation, an opportunity for countries to accelerate the benefits of integration, using better the funds that exist at regional level.Culture and tourism, together gather different communities from the area, with common history and customs, having a huge and unique natural heritage. This region has numerous tourist and cultural attractions. Culture and the national heritage protection create a vast collaboration area, easing the exchanges between experts and the mobility of artists. An important role is attributed to the establishment of the regional cultural unity, through the exploitation of the cultural variety of the Danube region and the quality of life. Due to its geographic location, the South-West Oltenia region possesses a developed tourist potential, having branched natural and cultural resources, which make the numerous tourism types achievable: the mountainous tourism, the cruise tourism, the balneal tourism, the eco-tourism, the cultural tourism, the adventure tourism, and so forth. The measures introduced by the Danube Strategy programs should guarantee the degree of competitiveness and sustainability of the tourist area for a long time, by revaluating the cross-border collaboration choices in order to benefit from the region through eco-development and original and sustainable investments.
