This study is concerned with translation field, especially on the shift in the process of English... more This study is concerned with translation field, especially on the shift in the process of English—Indonesian translation. It illustrates the types of shift that occurs in the Garuda Magazine. It is also aimed at discovering whether those English Noun Phrases are transferred into Noun Phrases in Indonesian. The principle of loss and gain of information in translation mostly occurs in the transfer of Source Language text to Target Language text. Regarding the research methodology, observation and a note taking technique are applied for the data collection and the theory used for the analysis is restricted to the shift proposed by Catford and the theory of loss and gain of information proposed by Nida. In relation to the above explanation, it is hoped that by recognizing shift and the theory of loss and gain information, the translator will be able to pinpoint and restate meaning more effectively due to it will be easier to get the intended meaning that is going to be translated.After ...

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kinerja karyawan pad... more Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kinerja karyawan pada Hotel Bakung Sari Kuta, Badung. Responden dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 64 orang. Teknik analisis yang digunakan adalah teknik analisis faktor. Hasil analisis diperoleh bahwa seluruh indikator yang terdapat dalam penelitian ini mampu membentuk faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi kinerja karyawan pada Hotel Bakung Sari Kuta, Badung. Motivasi berupa dukungan dari pemimpin kepada karyawan dapat meningkatkan kinerja karyawan yang merupakan variabel yang mewakili faktor motivasi dengan loading factor sebesar 0,835. Besarnya gaji/upah yang diterima sudah dapat memenuhi kebutuhan pokok karyawan memiliki loading factor tertinggi yang mewakili faktor kompensasi yaitu sebesar 0,931. Pewarnaan, penataan ruang kerja, posisi kursi, meja, lemari dan peralatan lain teratur rapi yang mewakili faktor lingkungan kerja memiliki loading factor sebesar 0,885. The research uses qualitative method, employing a cooking book recipe “Step by Step Cooking Balinese Delightful for Everyday” as its data source and its Indonesian translation. The theory used in this research is the theory of Vinay and Darbelnet (in Venuti, 2000) about translation procedures that include borrowing, calque, literal translation, transposition, modulation, equivalence, and adaptation. The theory of applying the natural semantic metalanguage approach (NSM) proposed by Wierzbicka (1996) is used to discuss the mapping of English action verbs. The theory is applied in order to explain how the Indonesian action verb meanings are mapped into English, with the exponential mapping technique. This study was aimed at knowing whether the final product of composition which is given detailed ... more This study was aimed at knowing whether the final product of composition which is given detailed feedback (error correction) performs better than of that given global feedback. The accessible population of the study was the fourth semester students of D3 tourism of The International Bali Tourism Institute, academic year 2017/2018. The study used quasi-experimental, nonrandomized control group, pretest-posttest design. This was so because the experiment was conducted in classroom setting in which the classes had been organized into classes A and B. The result of the study revealed that there was no significant difference of the two groups – experimental and control group. The result showed that the two groups had the same ability in writing paragraph. From the result concluded that the final product of composition written by students which is given detailed feedback (error correction) perform the same as of those given global feedback.

This study aims to analyze the speech acts of restaurant waiters during the COVID-19 pandemic. Th... more This study aims to analyze the speech acts of restaurant waiters during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research is a follow-up to illocutionary speech acts that are used by waiters in their activities to serve food and drinks is considered very important to do. The theory used was Searle's illocutionary speech act theory. The data were collected using observation, interview, and notetaking methods and then described qualitatively. The results of this study indicated that there were 4 categories of illocutionary speech acts, namely assertive (reporting, reporting); directive (ordering, requesting, asking, examining, and asking permission); commissive (expectation); and expressive (thanks, greetings and congratulations). Meanwhile, the new speech uttered by the waiter during the pandemic was included in the directive speech act.
