For the reason that the student-teacher ratio is uncomfortably high in our SHS, individual attention to students in the classroom is generally not practicable. Hence, the need for text books written for SHS to be necessarily detailed as this book to enable students follow it independently without any supervision. This book is also written to serve as an introductory text for undergraduates and other tertiary students.

Malaria remains one of the major killers of humans worldwide, threatening the lives of more than one-third of the world's population. It thrives in the tropical areas of Asia, Africa, and Central and South America, where it strikes millions of people. Sadly, more than 1 million of its victims, mostly young children, die yearly. A study from the Navrongo Health Research Centre in the Kasena Nankana Municipal discovered that, in this physical Ghanaian rural setting, and highly endemic area of malaria, if malaria were eliminated as a cause of death, persons could live at least 6.1 years longer. This research was therefore undertaken with the prior motive to develop an adequate model for forecasting future trends of malaria in the Kasena Nankana Municipality. The analysis preliminarily evolved that, the reported cases of malaria in the municipality is higher from the months June to November. These months happen to be the major rainy seasons with the highest humidity in the study area and the country as whole. Descriptively, the study revealed that, the average number of patients diagnosed with malaria is 698.7 having slightly flat tail at right side (positively skewed) which implies that the malaria cases are heading towards more positive values with the value of being less than 3 hence making them not normally distributed (platykurtic) which means the variables exhibit broad peaks high kurtosis. However, values with high skewness and kurtosis turns to produce inadequate result but in this case, a small value such as what was obtained in the descriptive statistics of figure 4.1 shows that the model ARIMA (1, 0, 1) is Also, with the help of the ACF and PACF plots, tentative models were fit to the data. ARIMA (1, 0, 1) was noted to fit the data well. Further adequacy test on the model also confirmed the validity of the selected model. The model was used to forecast for monthly cases of malaria for the next two years.

The OLS results from the quantile analysis say the log of trademark, Carbon emissions, offshore wind capacity, and electricity from renewable energy are significant and impact on innovation regarding offshore wind energy. Generally, the Breusch-Pagan / Cook-Weisberg test for heteroskedasticity test reveals the variables have a constant variance, confirming the robustness of the findings. The quantile regression depicts that at 25 th and 75 th quantiles levels, the log of trademark, the log of trade flows, the log of scientific and technical journals quantile coefficients is significantly different from zero and exhibit varied effects on the explained variable patent. Similarly, the analysis applied the IV-GMM estimation in ivreg2 to identify the over restrictions, the Hansen J statistic, and give the robust moment of conditions analysis. The findings are consistent with prior analysis with the log of trademark, the log of offshore wind capacity, the log of carbon emissions, Scientific and technology journals, the log of patent, electricity from renewables to be significant and impact on innovation. The robustness was done on the GMM models, by applying the Huber-White-Sandwich estimator of the variance of the GMM linear models approximators. The ivreg2 robust analysis revealed that the estimates are efficient for homoskedasticity and Statistics robust to heteroskedasticity. Ultimately, the interaction term ''cross'' came out significant in the analysis. Signifying the importance of the interaction variables in scaling innovation. This study will sever as a reference document for policy formulators regarding scaling up innovation for offshore wind energy.

In the insurance market, we have non-life and life insurance firms usually referred to as insurers and the individuals who own the insurance policy are called policy holders. Data Envelopment Analysis was used to assess the technical, scale and overall efficiencies of some life insurance firms in Ghana from 2010 to 2013. Commission, management expenses and capital were taken as inputs by insurance firms to yield claims, investment income and net premiums as outputs. This study showed that life insurance firms in Ghana functioned averagely at a technical efficiency of 88%, an average scale efficiency of 93% and an average overall efficiency of 82%.This clearly revealed that scale efficiency was largely responsible for the efficiency of life insurers instead of technical efficiency (managerial skills). The effects of dimension and market share on life insurer efficiency were established using the Mann Whitney U test. The study showed that market share significantly results in high life insurer efficiency, which agrees with previous studies in the insurance industry [1, 2]. Large insurers did not automatically lead to greater efficiency than small insurers in terms of capital-this result differs from that of [2] where general insurance firms in Ghana that have larger dimension led to higher efficiencies.

It is configured to generate electricity as long as there is a foot force on it. The system consists mainly of a connecting rod, gears, u-shaped shaft, and an alternator. The component members were designed, while static and fatigue analyses were carried out using Autodesk Inventor software. The static and fatigue analysis of both spring and footboard revealed yield strength of 207 Gpa and a factor of safety of 12 for spring and 6.58 for footboard. Basic manufacturing processes were employed during the construction of the machine. The results show an output power of 0.912W, voltage of 1.52V, and an efficiency of 21% when an average mass of 62kg acted on it. The root mean square value greater than 0.9 shows a strong correlation of the predictive model.

Firstly, two pump cases A and B were modelled. Secondly, the shear stress transport (SST) turbulence model was used to solve the 3D Navier Stokes equation. The performance characteristics were obtained and compared with experimental data. The pressure contours are plotted at the design point to delineate its internal flow characteristics. Pump case A was found to require more power for its operation and would hence consume more energy than pump case B. Further analysis shows that pump B is more efficient in operation, but with complex configuration. Lastly, the numerical simulations were validated with experimental data.

Dental carries affect over half of the population in both developed and developing countries globally. Since the outcomes from dental carries are mostly discrete, they are often modelled using count regression models. It is therefore the purpose of this study to determine the appropriate count regression model that efficiently fits the Decayed Mining and Filled Teeth Data (DMFTDATA) and further identify the key risk factors contributing significantly to dental carries in adults in Ghana using the appropriate count regression model. The study was conducted between June 2015 through to June 2016 at the Sefwi Wiawso Government Hospital as a study case in Ghana. A cross sectional sample design was employed using clinical carries examination and questionnaire with interview. A systematic random sampling technique was then applied to the population of the hospital to obtain a sample of 1158...

The Chinese Remainder Theorem is an ancient but important mathematical theorem that enables one to solve simultaneous equations with respect to different modulo and makes it possible to reconstruct integers in a certain range from their residues modulo to the pairwise relatively prime modulo and also construct libraries for manipulations on very large integers. The study seeks to find out some real life applications of the Chinese Remainder Theorem in our everyday life activities especially in trading and in information security and retrieval avoiding any leakages to invaders or intruders. The study presented proofs of some theorems vital in the real life applications of the Chinese Remainder Theorem. In the study, we identified that in the statement of the Principal Ideal Domain and that of Rings can be classified as some algebraic properties of the Chinese Remainder Theorem.

The analysis included a detailed step by step approach in understanding the algorithm, the extended form of the algorithm, computation of the Greatest Common Divisor (GCD) and its algebraic properties and their applications in algebra an d cryptography. We also showed how the Euclidean algorithm could be applied to trading for the maximization of returns. In our approach, we assumed that gcd[a(x); b(x)] is the monic polynomial of minimal degree within the set G = {s(x)a(x)+t(x)b(x): s(x), t(x) ∈ F[x]} and thus, examining all equations of the form p(x) = s(x)a(x)+t(x)b(x).

The focus is on using simpler and easier approaches such as Determinants; and Elementary Row Operations to solve Systems of Linear Equations. We found the solution set of a few systems of linear equations by a successive ratio of the determinant of all the matrices formed from replacing each column of the coefficient matrix by the right hand side vector and the determinant of the coefficient matrix repeatedly giving the values of the variables in the system in the order in which they appeared. Similarly, we also used the three types of elementary row operations namely; Row Swap; Scalar Multiplication; and Row Sum to find the solution set of systems of linear equations through row echelon form to reduced row echelon form to find the solution set of some systems of linear equations. Technical forms of systems of linear equations were used to illustrate the two approaches in finding their solution sets. In each approach we started by finding the coefficient matrices from the systems of linear equations.
