When high rates of transmission are simulated, this scheme causes large computatio- nal cost resulting in a delayed process to obtain the desired results. A simulator that works on fluid abstraction level treats all flows of the network on a con- tinuous basis and through resolution of differential equations modeled on the behavior of the network. We performed several tests of accuracy and perfor- mance on fluid simulators and packets simulators. The results pointed out that this new method may be able to achieve rapid and accurate enabling a new technique for evaluating performance of high-speed networks.

The QoS controller recongures all DS nodes according to ingress trac and domain policies. Policy Based Management is used in this framework to provide QoS in DS domain, controlling heterogeneous equipments of dierent manufacturers. The performance and functionalities of a prototype are shown by simulation of a voice over IP application

This is achieved through service discrimination among ow aggregations pertaining to these classes. The Di Serv (DS) architecture is scalable, o ering guarantees for di erent classes, however the QoS can su er

The management of large networks demands much computer resources and management system capacity, impossible to achieve with just one manager. The TMN standard, that intends to standardize management systems for telecommunication networks offering those resources, already foresees the use of several managers organized in a hierarchical architecture. This work presents a study of the problems in managing a large network and proposes a protocol for a Hierarchical Management System (HMS). Although we use a example of telecommunication network, the HMS system is suitable for Internet. The HMS protocol is specified using the formal description language Estelle and its functionality is verified using a test model.
