The present work seeks the application of this method in software development, more specifically in Software Requirements Elicitation. To this aim, the Design Thinking method was adapted by the team through the concepts of the Scrum framework for application in a case study that was conducted within a Brazilian state university. This study has verified this method to design a system for allocating and reserving resources for this university. Through the results obtained, this model can be considered positive, since it was possible to model a solution with 95% of average completeness and 100% of stakeholders’ satisfaction.

It is important that Computer Science research be based on the needs and specificities of people, to develop systems that respect and take into account their differences, in order to inform design and to deliver tools to mitigate the communication barriers and to promote knowledge access and social inclusion: for the Deaf, this means more systems in Sign Language. This article studies the knowledge creation process of a Community of Practice of non-deaf and Deaf members around the domain of Libras (Brazilian Sign Language). The main goal is to investigate whether traditional theories of collaboration (acts of speech, pragmatism, cooperation principles) hold in an environment where the language of choice is not spoken, but, rather, a Sign Language. Results show strong evidence in favor of such premise, and suggest further studies to enrich CP, collaboration and Sign Language studies.

However, a large number of people cannot enjoy these benefits because they face difficulties related to accessibility in these environments. In this scenario, the objective of this work is to present a conceptual framework, which contain a set of Web accessibility guidelines to allow a greater number of people to take advantage of the resources and facilities provided by virtual environments, regardless of their physical or functional limitations. In addition, it should be emphasized that the present research is not intended the presentation of a rigid guide or a step by step, but rather a suggested model, composed of recommendations that represent a compilation of different surveys and that intends to offer a direction to developers in creating Web environments with better accessibility.

There is a need for computational tools that take into account their peculiarities so that the Deaf may fulfill all their human possibilities. Even the systems that were supposedly designed for the Deaf present several problems (e.g. not in Sign Language (SL)). Communities of Practice (CP-a group of people who share some interest on a topic, and get together to better understand that topic) cultivate interactions. Interactions through collaborative activities mediated by computers should be used for social inclusion of the Deaf and Knowledge Creation (KC-a social process that encourages learning and development of skills). This article has two main objectives: first, it presents the results of an ethnographic study of a CP with Deaf and non-Deaf members to study SL. Second, the observations from the ethnographic study (based on collaboration and communication theories) allowed the researchers to determine some requirements, that are compiled and presented here as a Conceptual Framework to inform design of Inclusive Collaborative Virtual Environments (ICVE) to be used to cultivate CP for Deaf inclusion.

As the university is also a space of opportunities, it is necessary that the student is aware of all the possibilities that can support his professional and human growth, such as, monitoring, projects of scientific initiation, cultural activities, among others. So, considering the massive use of smartphones by students, this paper proposes a mobile application that provides the information of interest to academics in a more simplified way, using the resources of gamification. In order to investigate the most interesting contents of the students of the State University of the North of Parana (UENP), a questionnaire containing questions related to university contents was applied a 220 students. The investigation allowed to verify that the students have a high level of difficulty to access the contents of their interest, pointing out as mai...

It allows them to gain more time in performing transactions, payments, purchases and access to information. However, this type of technology has still been far from the deaf community reality, because of the lack of accessibility provided by these computer systems. In this context, this paper investigates the needs of the deaf community for access to Web sites with support for evaluation mechanisms. Initially, the accessibility guidelines for the deaf were identified using the view of several authors. Afterwards, the accessibility evaluation mechanisms were used to analyze some Web Site News. Thus, it was possible to highlight the positive and negative accessibility issues found in Web Sites.
