The growing population ageing highlights the need for strategies that enable older people to rema... more The growing population ageing highlights the need for strategies that enable older people to remain healthy and active. Digital technologies can contribute to this; however, the interaction of the elderly subject with these technologies is still frustrating, as these technologies are usually not designed with the needs and expectations of the elderly subject in mind. Engaging the elderly person in a process of interaction codesign may be a viable solution. However, conducting them in participatory activities is challenging. In this paper, we discuss our experiences in engaging ten elderly women, mostly long-lived (80+) in a process of interaction codesign, presenting some strategies used to improve engagement throughout the process, reflecting on the challenges and lessons learned. It is hoped that these strategies can help researchers and designers to engage elderly people in design processes with an effective participatory approach.

Dez mulheres idosas participaram desta experiência, em sua maioria longevas (80+), com pouca ou nenhuma experiencia no uso de tecnologias digitais. A participação no processo de codesign de interação possibilitou às participantes sentimentos de satisfação, empoderamento e aumento de autoestima, despertando o interesse em estarem incluídas digitalmente. Espera-se com este relato contribuir com outras iniciativas e estudos no campo da inclusão sociodigital.

The objectives were to introduce young people to the importance of prototyping a product before developing it and teaching prototyping in a participatory way, involving possible users of the product. The activity was carried out an extensionist action, developed in six stages, using some participatory techniques. The results indicate that, even with some limitations, it was possible to achieve the proposed objectives, involving young people in a participatory way in prototyping the product, generating creative ideas
This paper presents an experience report of digital inclusion through an interaction codesign pro... more This paper presents an experience report of digital inclusion through an interaction codesign process for production of a mobile application. Ten elderly women, mostly long-lived (80+), with little or no experience in using digital technologies, participated in this experience. Participation in the interaction codesign process enables feelings of satisfaction, empowerment, and increased self-esteem, arousing the interest in being digitally included. We hope to contribute to other initiatives and studies on socio-digital inclusion. Resumo. This article presents an experience report of participatory design with and by long-lived (80+) e... more This article presents an experience report of participatory design with and by long-lived (80+) elderly women for the production of digital technologies. In order to identify problems/needs to define the artifact to be designed and its context of use, five sessions were held with participatory activities related to the Context Analysis stage of a process of interaction codesign. Through the Focus Group, Attention Card and Brainstorming techniques, an application on historical / cultural places in the city of Salvador has been defined and designed. The results of this experience point to challenges and perceptions in the use of participatory techniques with elderly subjects. This report is expected to contribute to discussions about the context analysis stage in a interaction codesign process with older subjects.

Scientific studies claim that lifelong learning and digital technologies contribute to the active and healthy aging process. However, the interaction of older people with new technologies can be frustrating if they are not designed to meet the specific needs of this audience. Good participatory design practices can contribute to understanding these needs. The objective of this article is to identify in the scientific literature the application of participatory design with elderly in the educational context. For this, a systematic mapping was carried out, whose initial results indicated the existence of few works on the subject.

O número de pessoas idosas vem aumentando consideravelmente. Assim, faz-se necessário desenvolver... more O número de pessoas idosas vem aumentando consideravelmente. Assim, faz-se necessário desenvolver estratégias para ajudar as pessoas a envelhecerem saudáveis e manterem a vida ativa. As tecnologias digitais podem contribuir para isso. No entanto, essas tecnologias não são projetadas visando às necessidades e expectativas dos idosos. Estimular a participação de idosos em processos de codesign de interação pode ser uma solução possível. Contudo, engajar o sujeito idoso no processo de codesign é bastante desafiador. Este artigo apresenta nossos esforços atuais para identificar e validar requisitos para engajamento do sujeito idoso no processo de codesign de interação para produção de tecnologia digital. Por meio de um estudo de caso em andamento, os primeiros resultados direcionam para uma reflexão acerca dos desafios e dificuldades em tornar os sujeitos idosos parceiros de design, além de algumas evidências que podem favorecer um engajamento mais efetivo ao longo de todo o processo.

Resumo. Este artigo apresenta um relato de experiência sobre prototipação no contexto de uma oficina com jovens de uma comunidade de baixa renda. Os objetivos foram apresentar aos jovens a importância de prototipar um produto antes de desenvolvê-lo e ensinar a fazer prototipação de forma participativa, envolvendo os possíveis usuários do produto. A atividade foi realizada em seis etapas, utilizando algumas técnicas participativas. Os resultados indicam que, mesmo com algumas limitações, foi possível atingir os objetivos propostos, envolvendo os jovens de forma participativa na prototipação do produto, gerando ideias criativas.

Based on hands-on experience of the Information Technology Applied to Healthcare classes at the Jequié Campus of the Southeast Bahia State University (UESB) for the Nursing and Physiotherapy courses, an experience is reported that stresses the importance of teaching information technology by establishing links between Information and Communications Technologies and the praxis of the healthcare practitioners, enhancing the educational process and allowing students to 'visualize' how such technologies could be used for producing and qualifying impacts on their professional activities.

Partindo da experiência vivenciada na disciplina de Informática Aplicada à Saúde, ministrada na Universidade Estadual do Sudoeste da Bahia (UESB), campus de Jequié, aos cursos de Enfermagem e de Fisioterapia, é relatada uma experiência onde foi possível perceber a importância de realizar um ensino da informática que estabelecesse relações entre as Tecnologias da Informação e Comunicação com a práxis do profissional da saúde, contribuindo, com isso, para a melhoria do processo pedagógico e fazendo com que o discente pudesse "visualizar" como tais tecnologias podem ser utilizadas na qualificação e na produção de impacto da sua atuação profissional.
