This proposal is based on the employment of the Analytic Hierarchic Process (AHP) which was used to solve this problem. Also, some information that highlights the importance of this solution is presented, as well as a revision of the management functions in the agribusiness.
The present paper describes the construction of a model to collect and analyze undergraduate stud... more The present paper describes the construction of a model to collect and analyze undergraduate students' perceptions about the effects of an Industrial Engineering program on its alumni skills. An application of the model was experimented over a sample composed by the students of a federal university, located at the southern region of Brazil. This sample was divided into two groups: one group composed by seniors and the other composed by freshmen, attending their first semester. The freshmen were analyzed in terms of their expectations on the influence of their major and the seniors were analyzed in terms of their perception of the influence of their major on their skills. The results show that both groups perceived positive impacts over their skills. The most positive impacts were perceived under the criterion of employability. The research also investigated the perceptions of the degree of importance of the criteria. The criteria perceived as most important are alumni's employability and ability to solve problems. Analyzing the results, one can conclude that the perception of the importance of the criteria was very similar for both groups, although the expectation of the impact of the program was higher than the perceived impact at the end of the program, in all criteria.

This approach involves characteristics that allow the subjectivity inherent to the process of evaluating the performance of Service Companies to be considered, thus differentiating it from other transport services supplier selection methods. The particularities of the proposed methodology, particularly insofar as its applicability is concerned, were assessed by means of a case study involving a fuel distribution company which owns gas stations throughout the country.

In many firms the value of purchased materials and components accounts for 50–80% of total cost o... more In many firms the value of purchased materials and components accounts for 50–80% of total cost of goods sold. For those firms, purchasing decisions cause enterprise wide side effects, and, therefore, should be treated as an integration matter. Supplier selection is a problem that deals with both qualitative and quantitative issues that must be measured using information that is normally spread within the enterprise. To see how this problem was addressed in a small construction company in Brazil, an integrated procurement process, which is a simplification of a more complex methodology, is presented. The case study shows the importance of simpler, yet efficient, solutions to address the decision making problems of smaller enterprises in development countries—a research and commercial niche not well developed yet.

Based on the combination of an MCDM methodology (ELECTRE III Method), with Quality tools statistical methods, this methodology presents special features which incorporates a scientific treatment into the subjectivity present in the procedure of evaluating the customer satisfaction rate – which differs from the other methods used in this context. This study also presents the results of an experiment to identify the difficulties found in the implementation of the methodology.
Since the 90's, the Brazilian University System has experienced a fast growth, which is character... more Since the 90's, the Brazilian University System has experienced a fast growth, which is characterized by the increasing quantity of Universities and University Degree Courses. In this context, it's essential that exists an efficient Education Evaluation System to monitor the information of these universities and to assure that the education quality provided by them achieve the recommended standards. One way to get the Education System efficiency is to continuously evaluate the performance of Universities concerning several criteria. Thus, this work presents a multicriteria approach based on the traditional Weighted Average method for sorting the universities performance according to professors and students points of view. In order to investigate the application of this approach, a case study was conducted in a Public university. The weaknesses/potentialities and the critical points which must be prioritized in order to improve the Education Quality were identified.

Also, an original approach to incomparabilitys analyses is observed. An application of the proposal is experimented in a candy shop to evaluate consumers satisfaction.

Este artigo propõe uma abordagem original para o tratamento do processo decisório, no problema de... more Este artigo propõe uma abordagem original para o tratamento do processo decisório, no problema de seleção de variedades de cana-de-açúcar para o cultivo por uma usina. Esta proposta está fundamentada no emprego do método de Análise Hierárquica (Analytic Hierarchy Process, AHP) para a resolução deste problema. Apresenta-se, também, uma breve revisão das funções da gerência agrícola na agroindústria.
