I graduated as Mechanical Engineering, but I liked so much Steel Structures, then I begin to make design in this area with pipes, silos, tanks, cranes, crane-frames, etc. Then, things become more directed to industrial little buildings (little height). Then warehouses, beams for overhead-cranes.
As they said that our kind of Engineering didn't involve on Stability, I stud it hard this matter, read AISC Manuals, several books on Steel Structures thoroughly, read everything I could, did the ABNT-NBR 8800 introductory course and definitively put my hands to design steel structures. I guess doing more than 400 works in my life. In TCR Engineering I worked on approximately 150 works, in my own office Persec Engineering more than 200, being the remaining 50 becomes from Delp Mechanical Engineering, where I was employed 5 years.
When Lula's government impose the steel to be sold in USA, while our own country became with less steel for its usage, more than 100 companies closed the door, including mine (I had a good name, good clients, more than 200 completed works there, but I have noway to find the steel I needed. This occurred because of famous "mensalão" (monthly economic coup), where concrete engineering works were overpriced by government due to political corruption. I closed my office too.
I did the master course on Steel Structures on Civil Engineering, studying hard the subjects: Plasticity, Stability and Advanced Analysis which was my selected topic. With my previous experience on Computer Science, since the beggining of Graduation and before in the several empoyes, as well on my office, where everything worked with computer softwares develped by me, Autocad and other several resources; then I developed the PPLANAVX program. This software did the plane frame analysis with Plastic Zone theory, using Finite Element Models, including second order effects, residual stress (of 5 types), initial structure out-of-plumb, members out-of-straightness, etc. The program uses both Newton-Raphson models, although the modified was abandoned (too slow). This program
can determine correctly the limit load, the plasticity spread through out the structure, and inclusive reach the descending path. It also includes the elastic unloading automatically and defines precisely the beginning of the yield and have an accurate managing of load control and of all produced data (it saves everything).
Lately, I worked hard on connections in the doctorate course, and developed the PPLANAVA version, which included a new FE formulation developed by me, several possibilities of connection curves, including one curve model proposed by me.
I was Civil and Mechanical Engineering teacher in Cultural Newton Paiva Center, during 5 years, also responsible for the Steel Structures course, adviser for graduate conclusion work and member of collegiate and structuring teaching core of both courses. Due to removing on FIES student financial program from majority of my students, by Dilma government, my university had fired the majority of the teachers (more than 100 people), closed several courses, changed the campus. In my city, more than 300 other persons were fired and thousand of students lost their courses.
I was approved 3rd in UFOP contest for Steel Structures chair, without employment opportunities, I retired. I did the post-doc and help my mother on her last days. Even though all that destruction again in my life, I stud hard American English, and the first paper I produced alone (in Pos-doc) was published on Engineering Structures Journal. The 2nd -complementing that was refused with a false allegation of "no novelty".

Even though all that, I stud hard American English, and the first paper I produced alone (in Pos-doc) was published on Engineering Structures Journal. The 2nd -complementing that was refused in the same journal, with a false allegation of "no novelty". I feel so bad that I worked again 4 years in this paper and someone who already didn't read the work, say something like and didn't foresee that maybe some disaster can happen in the future, because of this lack.
Today, I still do what I can, but with little motivation. I had spent more time with music, where I wrote 4 unpublished books, 1 for guitar beginners and other for piano with the same subject: "theory of major and minor scales". The second is about "Greek modes", the third is about "Penta-tonic and other scales" and the fourth is my own research work on a personal idea on "theory of scales", which is a novelty unpublished content; however, I have no "bacharel course" on music too.
Maybe, my fate is giving so many good things for Civil Engineering and now Music, without having their Graduate course, this is my biggest mistake. I don't have two lives, sorry.
