New smart devices are developed every day with the ability to generate, send, and display messages about their status, data, and information about other devices. Consequently, the number of notifications received by a user is increasing and their tolerance may decrease in a short time. With this, it is necessary to develop a management system and notification controls. In this context, this work proposes a notification and alert management system called PRISER. Its focus is on user profiles and environments, applying data privacy criteria.

Abstract. In this work, we introduce a middleware to integrate grid computing, wireless sensor networks and mobile devices. We present its features, such as manageability, data communication, services directory, resources discovery and security, providing to developer a set of reused and homogeneous resources; discuss about inherent problems, and; propose solutions. Presenting the validation resource discovery for middleware.

In this work, we present a ubiquitous service-oriented architecture for urban sensing called UrboSenti. Our approach differs from other sensing solutions since it uses a service-oriented conceptual model, in the integration of traditional sensors with social networks and in availability of services to assist the development of new sensing applications. Moreover, our model encompass all sensing activities, ranging from the collection of data to generation of reports about events in the city Resumo.

He intends the creation of a middleware to allow the integration of the data collected through the sensors with the grid, allowing like this a homogenization of the nodes of the grid and an improvement as for the easiness offered to the user. This middleware should possess the minimum existent necessary resources in other middleware, also supporting mobile devices

This paradigm uses pair-wise contacts to share and forward content without any prior knowledge about pre-existing infrastructure. Thus, optimize data dissemination among nodes is a par-amount. Current solutions often use some instantaneous contextual information for routing decision that does not consider possible future situation. Our hypoth-esis is that since each node has some sort of contextual information then if we could predict the future values of these parameters we could achieve better rout-ing decisions. In this work, we present early stages of our research towards a predictive routing agent that uses prediction of context and collaboration with other agents for efficient routing of messages to the recipient. We carried out simulations using a simulator environment, achieving positive results.

Such systems must, therefore, present self-healing capabilities in order to detect failures and make the necessary adjustments to prevent their impact on applications. In such a context, this work proposes a new and flexible unreliable failure detector, denoted as the Impact failure detector (FD), for self-healing system in ubiquitous environments. The output of the Impact FD concerns the confidence in the system as a whole. By expressing the relevance of each node by an impact factor value as well as a margin of acceptable failures of the system, the Impact FD enables the user to tune the failure detection configuration in accordance with the requirements of the application: in some scenarios, the failure of low impact or redundant nodes does not jeopardize the confidence in the system, while the crash of a high impact factor one may seriously affect it. They will also enable more activities to be carried out and provide new opportunities for solving problems. In view of the potential offered by ubiquitous computing and the challenges it raises, this work proposes a self-healing architecture to support ubiquitous applications aimed at healthcare The goal is to continuously provide reliable services to meet their requirements despite changes in the environment. We outline the application scenario and proposed architecture, as well as giving a detailed account of its main modules with particular emphasis on the fault detector.

However, it is necessary to implement management techniques and control privacy of these heterogeneous environments. Thus, we performed a study using artificial neural networks in order to perform the processing of information identified only generating an output of information to Percontrol.

A challenge of such scenario is how to transmit sensed data in situations where the networking infrastructure is intermittent or unavailable. In this context, this paper outlines the early stages of our research which is concerned with a novel engine that uses Opportunistic Networks paradigm to underlie the data transmission of social urban sensing applications. It applies Situation awareness, Neural Networks and Fuzzy Logic for routing and decision-making process. As we know, this is the first paper to use such approaches in Smart Cities area with focus on social sensing application. As well as being original, the preliminary results from our simulations signals the way that further research can be carried out in this area.

Motivated by this issue, a research area in dependability applied to WSN is gaining strength. As highly distributed systems, WSN present a number of issues that have to be handled in order to achieve a dependable behavior. These issues are stressed considering the current sophisticated WSN, composed by static and/or mobile nodes. This paper proposes a review of the main problems and trends in the area of dependability for WSN, aiming to find suitable solutions to the problems faced by emerging WSN composed of static and mobile sensor nodes. Such applicability is analyzed for an application scenario of area surveillance.
