The plant has a thick, hairy, erect stem which gives rise to a large flower head. Modern farming gives more emphasis on sunflower production, and the whole process that follows further from collection in the field and its processing to produce high quality cold pressed oil. The cultivation of sunflower as an important industrial crop, comparison between different sunflower hybrids in the development and production target, an important detail in a contemporary production of sunflower. Cold pressed oils obtained from sunflower as a very important crop in the production of oils, are a kind of natural juice from the seeds of certain plants, which contain only their natural nutrients and the scent and taste of the very seed . Cultivation of various hybrids that have different genetic properties, and processing them in getting as much as possible better quality cold pressed oil is ve...

Research paper thumbnail of Possibilities for utilization of heavy metal polluted soil

The reduction of arable land and the increase of contaminated soil due to industrialization and m... more The reduction of arable land and the increase of contaminated soil due to industrialization and mining occupies the attention of scientists in finding solutions for soil utilization. The use of plants to accumulate heavy metals (HM) from the soil has been recognized as the most economically- and ecologically-friendly alternative. Different plants have different potential to uptake HM. The ability to take up and tolerate metals varies between and within species as well as between metals. Most of the data in the literature focused on hyperaccumulating properties of plant and not paying enough attention to excluders - plants with low accumulating abilities tolerant to high concentrations of HM in soil. Although promising, phytoremediation using natural hyperaccumulators has not achieved its predicted potential as a commercial technology due to the physical limitations of the natural hyperaccumulators like their slow grow, low-biomass production, specific ecology, and climate requirement...

Research paper thumbnail of GENETIC VARIABILITY FOR YIELD AND SOME YIELD-RELATED TRAITS IN RICE (Oryza sativa L.)

Fourteen rice varieties originating from Italy (arsenal, nembo, ronaldo, galileo, sprint, ulisse,... more Fourteen rice varieties originating from Italy (arsenal, nembo, ronaldo, galileo, sprint, ulisse, krystalino, mirko, sfera, gloria, pato, creso, vasco and san andrea) were grown in 2014 and 2015 in agro-ecological conditions in the Republic of Macedonia, in order to evaluated the genetic variability for yield and some important yield-related traits, like number of panicles per m2, plant height, panicle length, number of grains per panicle, weight of grains per panicle and 1000 grains weight. Statistical analysis showed that phenotypic coefficient of variability was higher than the genotypic coefficient of variability for all evaluated traits. The highest values for genotypic and phenotypic coefficients were obtained for the number of grains per panicle (GCV = 48.51%; PCV = 55.02%) and plant height (GCV = 46.23%; PCV = 48.85%). High level of broad sense heritability was observed for the plant height (89.57%), the number of grains per panicle (77.74%), panicle length (77.64%) and a nu...

Other Pseudomonas spp. were also recovered, but they are still under identification. The obtained bacterial isolates were compared with reference strains on the basis of phenotypic characteristics, pathogenicity, sensitivity to antibiotics, BIOLOG tests, DNA fingerprinting by multiplex PCR using two specific primers [type I (PC5/1 and PC 5/2) and type II (PC1/1 and PC 1/2)], and 16S rRNA-RFLP analysis. Unique DNA bands from 10 representative strains isolated from symptomatic tomato plants disclosed the presence of P. mediterranea by amplification of their genomic DNA. All strains produced one specific band (600 bp) compared with the representative samples IPVCT9.1 (P. mediterranea). Also, we used another representative sample IPVCT10.3 (P. corrugata), to check if we already have P. corrug...

Fifteen pesticides from dierent chemical groups like acylalanines(benalaxyl), organophosphorus (chlorpyrifos, malathion, pirimifos methyl), carbamates (methomyl, pirimicarb, propamocarb), triazinone (metribuzin, pen- conazole), triazoles (triadimenol) anilinpirimidines (pyrimethanil), and no classied buprofezin were investigated in this study. A set of experiments in water samples (pH 7) were conducted employing pulsed splitless injection with values of pressure ranging from 10 to 50 psi and purge fow to split vent of 0.5 and 1.5 min and compared to the responses of pesticides when classical hot splitless injection was used. Liquid-liquid extraction of water samples using dichlorometane as solvent, was not ecient for propamocarb because of its higher solubility in water compared to its solubility in dichlorometane....

Almost 200 samples of water from boreholes in 14 different points were collected and analyzed by relevant standard methods for a total content of Na+, K+, Ca2+, Mg2+, NH +, Cl-, HCO -, SO 2-, NO -, NO -, and PO 3-. The results showed that groundwater in the studied area 4 3 4 3 2 4 is generally neutral to slightly alkaline. The abundance of the major ions is Mg2+>Ca2+>K+>Na+ and HCO ->Cl->PO 3->SO 2-. Concentration range of the main 3 4 4 cations Na+, K+, Ca2+ Mg2+ and NH + is 1.40 – 36.71mg/L, 0.68 – 354.44 mg/L, 7.43 – 411.18 mg/L, 1.07 – 96.14 mg/L and < LOQ (limit of quantification) – 55.89 4 mg/L, respectively. Regarding anions Cl-, HCO -, SO 2-, NO -, NO -, and PO 3- concentration range is 4.19 – 614.31mg/L, 0.04 – 750.97 mg/L, < LOQ – 300.45 3 4 3 2 4 mg/L 0.14 – 2...

The aim of this paper was to evaluate the productive possibilities of some sunflower hybrids grown in Macedonian environmental conditions. The experiment was carried out during the period 2013 and 2014 on the research field of the Faculty of Agriculture, “Goce Delchev” University – Shtip, in Ovche Pole locality, Republic of Macedonia. Total 20 sunflower hybrids were used as an experimental material. The trial was arranged as randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. The average content of oil and oleic acid were 45.6 and 65.2%, respectively. The highest seed yield from all sunflower hybrids was obtained for the hybrid NLK12M144 (3,344 kg ha–1) and the lowest for hybrid NLK12S126 (2,244 kg ha–1). Cluster analysis classified the sunflower hybrids into four groups based on agronomic traits and see...

The lesions caused by P. capsici often occurred together and resembled slightly those incited by C. coccodes. Phomopsis lesions could be differentiated on the basis of pliable leathery condition of the affected tissue and of pycnidium presence while C. coccodes produced lesions with regular round shape and abundant acervuli. setae and microsclerotia in coloni1-ed fruit tissue. On some fruits P. capsici caused single infection but mixed infections of Phomopsis and Colletotrichum were observed. as well. C. coccodes is a soil-borne pathogen that produces long-lasting structures (microsclerotia) in the plant debris. The development of this pathogen on pepper might contribute to the building up of inoculum in the soil which could serve as reservoir for other Solanaceae. To our knowledge, this is the first report of P. capsici and C. coccodes on pepper in Macedonia.
