In this respect, we explore the possible benefits and opportunities for knowledge integration from the field of Future-oriented Technology Analysis and more specifically, Foresight, as a systemic innovation tool. In view of the sustainable preservation of audiovisual material, the opening up of the archive is seen as a real challenge. Various aspects, such as requirements concerning formats, metadata standards and legal implications, need to be taken into account. Furthermore, different types of users should be able to consult the archive in a user-friendly way, a factor which should not be neglected. This article studies and discusses the current situation in Flanders regarding the digitisation and disclosure of the Flemish audiovisual cultural heritage, comprising the audiovisual material in the archives of different Flemish institutions, including broadcasters, (post-) production companies, government institutions and cultural organizations. Based on 45 qualitative interviews, a SWOT analysis is created to assess the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats concerning the digitisation and disclosure of the audiovisual archive. Moreover, this environmental analysis includes some recommendations concerning the future preservation of this audiovisual cultural heritage.

Content, suited to the consumer's demands, is assumed to be a main key factor for the success of mobile television. As most trials to date are technology-driven, we aim for a more usercentric approach. To this end, a meta-analysis on mobile TV user studies was conducted, a panel of 35 experts was surveyed and a user study with 405 respondents was conducted. Based on all results, a SWOT-analysis was performed for possible content on mobile TV.

They were originally considered as two distinct approaches with their own methods, tools and assumptions. However, recently an 'interactionist' stance has emerged, trying to combine the best of both worlds. This has resulted in research efforts combining insights from both traditions. Within this article, we utilize a use-diffusion model that makes a quantitative distinction between usage patterns in order to complement an investigation into the adoption diffusion of a technology. We do this for digital TV (DTV) in Flanders, an information and communication technologies (ICT) that in terms of adoption is heading towards mass market, but in terms of usage a lot of users tend to stick to their traditional viewing habits without incorporating the possibilities of the new technology. The data from our research seem to affirm these assumptions. Amongst the adopters of DTV, only a minority can be labelled as 'intense users', whereas the majority of users are 'specialized' or 'limited users', indicating that they only use a few applications at maximum. This shows that in Flanders, a large gap exists between adoption diffusion and use diffusion. Furthermore, intense and specialized users tend to focus on content applications KEYWORDS adoption diffusion use diffusion diffusion of innovations domestication interactive digital television applications Dimitri Schuurman | Lieven De Marez | Katrien Berte 224
