The tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) variety 'Rinka 409', was grown hydroponically with a high-wire system in high technology greenhouse, Ehime University, Japan. The water stress treatment using visual monitoring system was used to produce the high soluble solids tomato fruits. Moreover, a high lycopene content of tomato can be produced by controlling the storage condition. Non-destructive measurement has been known to provide a fast and accurate quality measurement of fruits and vegetables. The objectives of this study were to develop a precise position for the non-destructive measurement of the lycopene content in high soluble solids stored tomato using Vis/NIR spectroscopy and evaluate its performance. In this study, the high soluble solids of tomato fruits were grown under water stress treatment and stored after harvesting at 25°C in a cool incubator for 7 days. The tomato spectra were measured using Vis/NIR spectroscopy with the wavelength 500-1010 nm. The estimation of the lycopene content was based on the statistical model using multivariate analysis. From this study, it is concluded that the measurement of lycopene content in high soluble solids of tomato fruits after storage by using the top part of the tomato, was better than if it is compared to the side part. It was best determined using PLS analysis with Visible/Near-infrared Spectroscopy non-destructively, with the R 0.98 and RMSE 0.80.

OPEFB’s high cellulose content could potentially develop into various bioproducts, especially biomaterials. The thermochemical delignification process can obtain high-yieldalpha-cellulose. The cellulose extraction process can be done by combining the bleaching process under acidic conditions and alkaline delignification to obtain high-purity cellulose. The bleaching conditions vary in the concentration of NaClO2, the length of bleaching, the temperature, and the number of stages. The research obtains high α-cellulose by optimizing bleaching conditions under acidic conditions in cellulose’s OPEFB extraction with variability on NaClO2 concentration and bleaching time using response surface methodology (RSM). The bleaching process was implemented at an early stage with a concentration of 3% NaClO2 and a bleaching time o...

Pulse treatment is akind of method that can prolong fresh cut flower’s shelf life. Pulse treatment is a postharvesthandling which is done by soaking the stem of flower into a solution containing nutrients(glucose and sucrose) and germicides. The objectives of this reseacrh were to determine the bestalternatives of pulse treatment and determine shelf life of fresh cut rose flower of eachtreatment. There were 6 alternatives, namely P 1 (5% sucrose+20 mg/l AgNO 3 ), P 2 (150 mg/lAgNO 3 ), P 3 (1,2% sucrose+0,2 mM STS), P 4 (5% sucrose+20 mg/l AgNO 3 +320 mg/l citricacid), P 5 (1,2% sucrose+ 0,2 mM STS+ warm water (40 0 C)), P 6 (5% sucrose+20 mg/lAgNO 3 +320 mg/l citric acid+warm water (40 0 C)). The parameters used for determining shelflife are color of petals (lightness and redness), moisture content, and texture of stem. As results, shelf life of P1 was 8 days, P2 was 6 days, P3 was 4 days, P4 was 6 days, P5...

Tropical environment conditions can deteriorate and decrease quality of their fruit. Objective of the research were to identify quality characteristics of fresh strawberry that storages in tropical environment with and without temperature controlled.Strawberry fruit were sampled from mountain area in Ketep, Magelang, Central Java. Several quality parameter were measured include physical parameter (fresh weight, weight loss, skin texture and color) and chemical parameter (water content, soluble solid content, vitamin C and titratable acidity). Then, fresh weight of strawberry were compared with IQS 8026-2014 using control chart. Storage conditions were tropical condition without controlled temperature and controlled temperature at 4 oC and 10 oC. Result shown that chemical parameters of fresh strawberry were optimum at 4 oC storage condition for water content and solubl...
