Environmental impact assessment (EIA) of air pollution diffusion of different kinds of hazardous sources can provide
support information for decision making of emergency plan preparation and approval of new construction project. A
GIS-based software was developed as a computer aided tool for EIA of atmospheric pollution dispersion. The
industrial source complex (ISC3) dispersion models developed by US Environmental Protection Agency were used
for calculation of the ground-level concentrations for point, area, flare and volume sources. The Fortran code named
SCREEN3 was integrated to implement ISC3 models. Hybrid programing technology of C# and Fortran was used to
develop the software. ArcGIS was used as GIS platform to represent the pollutant concentration with contour
visualization on a map. The developed software can be used as a tool for air pollution assessment with preliminary
estimation scheme (screening scheme).

The Millennium Ecosystem Assessment was carried out between 2001 and 2005 to assess the consequences of ecosystem change for human well-being and to establish the scientific basis for actions needed to enhance the conservation and sustainable use of ecosystems and their contributions to human well-being. The MA responds to government requests for information received
through four international conventions—the Convention on Biological Diversity, the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands, and the Convention on Migratory Species—and is designed to also meet needs of other stakeholders, including the business community, the health sector, nongovernmental organizations, and indigenous peoples.
The sub-global assessments also aimed to meet the needs of users in the regions where they were undertaken. The assessment focuses on the linkages between ecosystems and human well-being and, in particular, on ‘‘ecosystem services.’’ An ecosystem is a dynamic complex of plant, animal, and microorganism communities and the nonliving environment interacting as a functional unit. The MA deals with the
full range of ecosystems—from those relatively undisturbed, such as natural forests, to landscapes with mixed patterns of human use and to ecosystems intensively managed and modified by humans, such as agricultural land and urban areas. Ecosystem services are the benefits people obtain from ecosystems. These include provisioning services such as food, water, timber, and fiber; regulating services that affect climate, floods, disease, wastes, and water quality; cultural services that provide recreational, aesthetic, and spiritual benefits; and supporting services such as soil formation, photosynthesis, and nutrient cycling. The human species, while buffered against environmental changes
by culture and technology, is fundamentally dependent on the flow of ecosystem services.

Environmental impact assessments and/or statements (EIS) are a prerequisite for opening or expanding uranium mining projects. Their overall objective is to ensure that all matters affecting the environment to a significant extent are fully examined and taken into account before irrevocable development decisions are made. Since an EIS contains extensive information related to the physical, biological, chemical and socio-economic condition of an area proposed for development, it provides invaluable guidelines for minimizing environmental impact during operations as well as for environmental restoration and decommissioning after a mine is closed.

These reports were (i) the initial environmental examination (IEE) of the proposed rehabilitation and improvement of Baharampur and Maldah bridges; (ii) the IEE of the proposed rehabilitation and improvement of the road connecting Fulbari (on the border of India and Bangladesh) to Panitanki (next to Kakarbhitta in Nepal), and the road connecting Hasimara (in India) to Jaigaon (next to Phuentsholing in Bhutan); and (iii) the environmental impact assessment (EIA) of the proposed rehabilitation and improvement of national highways (NH) connecting Raiganj to Dalkhola and Sevok to Gangtok, as well as the construction of two bypasses in Dalkhola and Barasat in West Bengal Province. In addition, this summary took into account the reports of the rapid wildlife movement assessment that was carried out in Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary (MWS) area and Raiganj Wildlife Sanctuary (RWS).

Berdasarkan Keputusan Menteri Kesehatan No. 1204/Menkes/SK/X2004 tentang Persyaratan Kesehatan Lingkungan Rumah Sakit maka setiap fasilitas pelayanan kesehatan diwajibkan memiliki Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah (IPAL). Sedangkan baku mutu air limbah mengacu pada Keputusan Menteri Negara Hidup No.58 Tahun1995 tanggal 21 Desember 1995 tentang Baku Mutu Limbah Cair Bagi Kegiatan Rumah Sakit.
