Treatment modality aims to stimulate sagittal mandibular growth. Various appliances are available including removable and fixed functional. Fixed functional appliances (FFAs) are used as they have better patient compliance with similar effects. The present case series discuss the use of four different FFAs in late mixed dentition period during circumpubertal growth. The effects seen are similar to other appliances even though a lot of variations are seen with respect to the total treatment time.

The original Branemark protocol is based upon delayed loading i.e. 3-4 months in mandible and 4-6 months in maxilla before final prosthesis. This long treatment period that involves temporary prosthetic phase which may be of great inconvenience in terms of patient compliance [3,4]. There are two different approaches for immediate loading of dental implants that are currently followed. [5,6] The first approach relies on the compression screw principle which involves the "lateral corticalization" of the spongy bone and gives perfect primary stability for immediate loading. The second approach involves the use of bicortical screws or axial basal implants that mechanically engages the basal bone for primary stability and immediate loading [7,8]. 10. Del Fabbro M., et al. Methods: GCF samples of 10 patients undergoing orthodontic treatment, for correction of lower anterior crowding with clear aligners, were collected on day 0, 1, 3, 7 and 21 using periopaper strips. The upper arch was taken as the control site. The samples collected were further analyzed using commercially available ELISA based kits. Results: The mean levels of IL-1β at day 0, 1, 3, 7 and 21 were compared between experimental and control sites using unpaired t-test and it was found that the levels of IL-1β were significantly elevated on experimental site in comparison to control site. Conclusion: It was concluded from the study that elevation in levels of IL-1β as a biomarker of orthodontic tooth movement reaches its peak after 24 h of force application. The clear aligners, as an alternative to conventional fixed orthodontic treatment, were found to be efficient in correcting mild to moderate lower arch crowding.
