These tumors usually occur in the head and neck region, especially in the mandible and are relatively rare in the maxilla. Meanwhile, this study aims to discribe a rare case of the cemento ossifying fibroma that had been previously diagnosed as desmoplastic fibroma with a mass tumor in the anterior of the maxilla. A 22 years old female reported to the Cipto Mangkusumo Hospital with the main complaint of a lump in the right side of the upper jaw which appeared 2 years prior to the operation. In April 2017, the patient had a biopsy in Tarakan Hospital and the result was a desmoplastic fibroma. Due to the lump enlargement, the patient was admitted to RSCM in July 2019 and had biopsy incision with a diagnosis of cemento ossifying fibroma which was confirmed by the histopathological examination and histology report. The resection of the right part of maxilla was conducted alongside with reconstruction using the free fibular flap. Moreover, cemento ossifying fibroma and desmoplastic fibroma shared similar features, namely, clinical, histological and radiological features which are important in establishing the diagnosis and treatment of patient. Hence, extensive enucleation or resection is required due to the progressive nature of the tumor to prevent the potential for further recurrences.

Two protein components are necessary to catalyze rDNA transcription, and these have been extensively purified. The first, factor D, can stably associate by itself with the rDNA promoter region and is responsible for template commitment. The second component, factor C, which appears to be an activated subset of polymerase I, can stably bind to the factor D-rDNA complex but not to the rDNA in the absence of factor D. A third component which had been previously identified as a rDNA transcription factor is shown to be a RNase inhibitor. Extending our earlier observation that the approximately 150-base-pair mouse rDNA promoter consists of a minimal essential region (residues approximately -35 to approximately +9) and additional upstream stimulatory domains, we now report that each of these promot...

Kata kunci: ekspos plat; fasciocutaneous advancement flap; rekonstruksi mandibula Mandibular plate defect reconstruction with fasciocutaneous advancement flap ABSTRACT Introduction: The use of a reconstruction plate after mandibular resection is common in cases of oral tumours. Complications of plate exposure in patients using a reconstructed plate without a bone graft are quite high, around 20%. Fasciocutaneous advancement flap is a technique used to reconstruct and repair soft tissue defects in plate reconstruction. This technique is simple, short in surgery, and easy for postoperative care for doctors and patients. This case report aims to present the reconstruction of the mandibular plate defect with a fasciocutaneous advancement flap. Case report: A 44-year-old male patient came to the hospital with plate exposure one month before hospital admission. The patient had a history of hemimandibulectomy one year prior with a calcifying epithelial odontogenic tumour diagnosis and was reconstructed using a condyle prosthesis and plate reconstruction. Treatment includes debridement and a fasciocutaneous advancement flap to cover the exposed defect of the reconstruction plate. Conclusion: Reconstruction of the mandibular plate defect with a fasciocutaneous advancement flap can give good results with a brief and simple surgical process.

Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS) is a chronic inflammatory disease that affects the joints and bones. AS also affects the synovial and cartilaginous articulations and the sites of tendon and ligament attachment to bone. This case presents the management of a rare TMJA case which is a secondary manifestation of ankylosing spondylitis. Case: A 30-year-old male visited the Cipto Mangunkusumo hospital with the chief complaint that he had difficulties opening his mouth since 5 years ago. MRI examination showed bilateral fusion between the condyle and glenoid fossa. Bilateral interpositional temporal muscle graft arthroplasty, and bilateral coronoidectomy were performed. One month after surgery, the patient showed uneventful postoperative healing with an interincisal opening of 2.5 cm. Conclusion: Interpositional temporal muscle graft arthroplasty is the suitable treatment for TMJA seco...
