History
28 Oct 1964, Cairo (Egypt), within the framework of D-XD2903 - League of Arab States (LAS). Constitution adopted at 1st Conference, 24 Jul 1965, Amman (Jordan); amended at 2nd Conference, Apr 1974, Baghdad (Iraq). Commenced operations Jan 1975, Beirut (Lebanon), following 3rd Conference, 1974, Beirut, when Secretary-General was elected.
Aims
Promote the expansion of and cooperation between existing national news agencies in the region; contribute to the development of news exchanges and promote technical cooperation among news agencies; contribute to the training of news agency journalists.
