Rafael Nunez | University of Illinois at Chicago (original) (raw)
Specializes in Hispanic linguistics and is Professor Emeritus at the University of Illinois-Chicago. He received his B.S. and M.A. from New York University and Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. He has taught in several US, Latin American and Spanish universities. He has authored Fonología generativa contemporánea de la lengua española, Georgetown University Press. He has also published several anthologies in Holland and Germany on Romance linguistics and has co- edited a second one in Venezuela on the phonology of the Hispanic Caribbean. His books Morfología de la sufijación española (Morphology of Spanish Suffixation), and La fonología moderna y el español de Santo Domingo (Modern Phonology and the Spanish of Santo Domingo) earned him two national awards. In addition to being a member of the editorial board of three international journals, he is a co-founder and co-editor of PROBUS: International Journal Romance Linguistics, published by de Gruyter Mouton, in Germany
