This article deals with Indonesian Muslim youth engaging with Korean television dramas. This arti... more This article deals with Indonesian Muslim youth engaging with Korean television dramas. This article employs observation and interview among 43 Indonesian Muslim youth. This study has shown that there is symbolic distancing that happens in Indonesia because of Islamic and Hallyu’s interaction and negotiation. Based on symbolic distancing concept, Indonesian Muslim youth engaging with Korean TV dramas involves the localized appropriation. Indonesian young Muslims believe that it is crucial to preserve Islamic values while consuming Korean TV dramas. Images and representations of Korean TV dramas basically do not reduce their Islamic identity. Ultimately, images and representations in Korean television dramas support their Muslim identity. Indonesian Muslim youth who enjoy watching Korean television dramas learn from the scenes depicted. This article aims to explain the reception of young Muslims in Thai films. Thai films are consumed by young Indonesian Muslims recently. The research question proposed is how these Muslim audiences respond and interpret messages and representations of Thai films and the extent to which their Islamic background affects this reception. This article employs interviews and observations to gather data. This study finds that the consumption of young Indonesian Muslims in Thai films supports the concept of active audiences because audiences can select those products based on their interest. These more active audiences use laptops or mobile phones to watch Thai films they like. Furthermore, Indonesian youth do not passively receive all representations of Thai films. Ikatan Cendekiawan Muslim se-Indonesia (ICMI) yang didirikan pada 7 Desember 1990 adalah organisa... more Ikatan Cendekiawan Muslim se-Indonesia (ICMI) yang didirikan pada 7 Desember 1990 adalah organisasi penting dan cukup populis pada masa akhir Orde Baru. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan tendensi politis dari ICMI dalam politik Islam di Indonsia. Artikel ini menggunakan pendekatan sejarah dari dokuen-dokumen yang tersedia seperti artikel, buku dan lain-lain. Artikel ini menemukan bahwa Pendirian ICMI dalam perkembangannya digunakan oleh anggotanya sebagai alat politik. Antara Negara (pemerintahan Orde Baru) dan ICMI memilki hubungan saling menguntungkan. Pada satu sisi dengan adanya ICMI, kelompok Muslim yang tergabung dalam ICMI lebih mudah mempromosikan nilai-nilai keislaman ke Negara sehingga Negara diharapkan lebih islami. Pada sisi yang lain, Negara Orde Baru memanfaatkan ICMI sebagai alat politik. Orde Baru merangkul kelompok Muslim ke dalam ICMI untuk menyokong keberlangsungan kekuasaan politik Orde Baru.

Tujuan utama penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana kesan ajaran tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah di Desa Mengkirau, Kabupaten Kepulauan Meranti Indonesia. Informan penelitian ini berjumlah Sembilan orang, seorang khalifah Tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah, dua badal, dan enam jama’ah atau pengikut ajaran Tarekat Qadiriyah waNaqsyabandiyah. Data dikumpulkan melalui pemerhatian, temu bual, dokumentasi serta analisis dengan menggunakan kaedah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahawa terdapat kesan ajaran Tarekat Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah terhadap masyarakat yangmengikuti ajaran tarekat ini. This research is motivated by the management of the mosque, which the Nusantara Mosque Foundation... more This research is motivated by the management of the mosque, which the Nusantara Mosque Foundation carries out. The Nusantara Mosque Foundation chose to focus on building civilization through the mosque through the My Mosque Prosperous Program. This study aims to find out how the Bandung Nusantara Mosque Foundation manages the Masjidku Makmur program. This study uses a qualitative method. The results showed that the management of the Masjidku Makmur program carried out by the Masjid Nusantara Bandung Foundation cannot be separated from the four management functions, better known as Planning, Organizing, Actuating, and Controlling (POAC). This article finds that the Nusantara Mosque Foundation has four programs or activities to prosper mosques. The four activities or programs are mosque management training, funeral management training, Nusantara mosque bulletins, and Hari Raya Allowances (THR) to marbots and mosque imams.

This article analyzes a conflict resolution model practiced among the followers of the Tariqa Qad... more This article analyzes a conflict resolution model practiced among the followers of the Tariqa Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah. This research uses a philosophical and ethnographic method to analyze the social life of the followers of Tariqa Qadiriyah wa Naqsyabandiyah in Riau, Indonesia. Through these methods, this article finds that the Tariqa followers have established a conflict resolution philosophy called the Wong Tuwo. This philosophy appears from the concept of an individual as a peacebuilder that has to live and has character harmoniously, friendly, and ethically among human beings beyond ethnicity, culture, and religion. The "Wong Tuwo" provides sophisticated way the Tariqa followers solve problems and prevent potential conflict in the community. One of the essential things of this model is that peaceful figures, as reflected in Wong Tuwo, are believed to be role models for building quiet life, social interaction, and communication among human beings.Artikel ini mengan...

This empowerment employs preaching and question-answer methods. It focuses on the empowerment which is located in al-Muhajirin Mosque. This empowerment succeeds in giving moral understandings and empowerment among Muslim youth in Desa Tarab Mulia. It demonstrates on how Muslim youth is being attached to the mosque as the center of moral empowerment in Indonesia.

This study used descriptive qualitative methods by using primary and secondary data sources. There are ten informants selected. They are interviewed to know the ACT strategy of fundraising. This study finds that Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) Labuhanbatu's fundraising strategy in increasing the zakat, infaq, alms, and waqf funds is by identifying donors, using fundraising methods (direct and indirect fundraising), managing and maintaining donors, and monitoring and evaluating fundraising. In the first year of establishing the institution, ACT started its movement by expanding its indirect fundraising strategy to form a solid branding and positive image so that ACT Labuhanbatu could quickly adapt and build public trust. Indonesian Islam has become the point of contestation of ideologies, particularly between the so-... more Indonesian Islam has become the point of contestation of ideologies, particularly between the so-called globally-inspired and locally- rooted views of Islam. This article deals with the Salafism struggle in da’wah on the airwaves through the radio as locally rooted in Indonesia with a special reference to the Salafi radio highly popular in Batam of Riau, Hang Radio. It analyzes two main issues, first on the growth of religious thinking in Indonesian Islam and its relationship with media propaganda, and second on the Salafi struggle for Islamic identity by means of broadcasting through radio. It argues that through the radio the Salafists implement their ideology as part of their socio-religious identity in a public sphere. Through a hermeneutical-phenomology analaysis, this article finds thatthe Salafism struggle of Islamic identity by means of radio is fragmented rather than cohesive and solid.
