This study mainly aimed at comparing food waste behaviors in the Cilento Bio-District with those recorded at the national level to explore if the organic district model had an impact on food waste attitude as a sustainability element. Methods: Household food waste behavior indicators performed better at the national level than in the Cilento Bio-District, with some relevant exceptions, such as the avoidance of having too much food at home and impulse buying. Results: The study results suggest that some food waste attitudes in the rural community of the Bio-District might be so embedded in everyday practices that they are no longer perceived as relevant descriptors, considering the lower food waste (FW) levels in Cilento compared to national data. The key findings of the study were interpreted for policy action development. Discussion: The overall priority of actions would be the enhancement of consumers' abilities to impact practices for food waste prevention. Community engagement aspects and the local products' promotion should be particularly pursued in the Cilento Bio-District, while broader policy actions were proposed at the national level with the involvement of the different sectors of the food chain and the proposition of regulatory aspects (e.g., labels). Future research on Cilento Bio-District characteristics and the comparison with national data would need a more comprehensive examination of additional factors affecting the food system, such as dietary patterns or organic product consumption, to understand their potential influence on food waste and, in general, the sustainability of food choices.

Materials and Methods: A sample of 237 older adults aged above 60 years were recruited from three nursing homes belong to three different cities, Rabat, Kenitra, and Sidi Kacem city and from one health center in Sidi Kacem city. From them, 172 subjects (56.4% men) were included in our study for their completion. Cognitive functions were assessed by the Mini-Mental State Examination. Nutritional status, depression, and physical activity (PA) were assessed using, respectively: Mini nutritional assessment, geriatric depression scale-15, and global PA questionnaire. The binary logistic regression was performed where the cognitive function was taking as the dependent variable and all other outcomes as independent variables. Results: Our results shows that 69.8% of total sample were classed as having cognitive impairment while only 30.2% were normal. The binary logistic regression assessed showed that the malnutrition (odds ratio [OR] = 3.03, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.34-6.85), gender (OR = 2.22, 95% CI: 1.03-5.71), and low education (OR = 8.35, 95% CI: 1.32-52.83) were risk factors for cognitive impairment, when moderate level of PA (OR = 0.19, 95% CI: 0.06-0.54) was a protective factor compared to the limited level. Conclusions: Our study supported past literature that malnutrition is a risk factor of cognitive impairment. This signified that nutritional status monitoring can prevent its leading to Alzheimer's disease.

Material and Methods: physicochemical analyzes were carried out of pH, acidity, electrical conductivity, and humidity of 46 samples of honey of Ziziphus sp and 24 type of Acacia sp consumed in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Results: The physicochemical analysis confirmed the similar pH values (Ziziphus sp = 4.18 ± 1.58, 4.68 ± Acacia sp = 1.21), same thing for the conductivity (Ziziphus sp = 1.09 ± 0.3 mS / cm Acacia sp = 1.09 ± 0.16 mS / cm), and humidity (Ziziphus sp = 17.35% (17.35 g / 100 g) ± 1.5, Acacia sp = 15.92% ± 1.14). In addition, honey Ziziphus sp is less acidic with a low tendency to fermenting (8.6 ± 3.5 meq / Kg) than Acacia honey (36.7±18.9 meq / kg). Conclusions: The physicochemical parameters of honey Ziziphus sp (Sider), and Acacia sp (Samar) are complies with the national standards (UAE.S GSO 147: 2008) in the UAE and international standards (Codex Alimentarius 2001). Honey Ziziphus sp is relatively better than Acacia sp.

Materials and Methods: A sample of 237 older adults aged above 60 years were recruited from three nursing homes belong to three different cities Rabat, Kenitra, and Sidi Kacem city and from one health center in Sidi Kacem city. From them, 151 subjects (59.6% men and 40.4% women) were included in our study for their complete data. Sociodemographic characteristics and health condition were collected using a general questionnaire. Body compositions evaluation using bioelectrical impedance analysis accompanied with a measure of body mass index, calf circumference, midupper arm circumference, waist circumference, and waist-to-hip ratio. Cognitive functions were assessed by the Mini-Mental State Examination. Nutritional status, depression, and physical activity (PA) were assessed using, respectively: Mini nutritional assessment, geriatric depression scale-15, and global PA questionnaire which were taking as confounder factors. Results: The multivariate logistic regression adjusted for gender, education, kind of profession, pension, PA, depression, and malnutrition shows that only the first tertile (adjusted odds ratio [ORa] = 4.11, 95% CI: 1.58-10.66) and second tertile (ORa = 4.25, 95% CI: 1.64-10.97) of fat-free mass (FFM) compared to the third tertile, were found to be risk factors for cognitive impairment. Conclusions: The present study demonstrated that lower level of FFM was associated with a higher risk of cognitive impairment among the elderly. This indicates that the preservation of muscle mass by good nutrition and PA could save cognitive function from the onset of Alzheimer's disease.

Material and methods: This study was carried out from January 2015 to April 2016, the target population was diabetics, The sample was consisted by 329 diabetics aged 18-86years (28,6% of men and 70,5% of women) living in Kenitra, Morocco. 12,7% were aged 18-39years, 65,5% were aged 40-64years and 20,8% were aged 65-86years. The Assessment of physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior was performed by the Arabic version of the General physical activity questionnaire (GPAQ). Results: In general, 58,4% of adults showed a low level of PA, 23.2% fell within the moderate level of PA and 17.5% of people showed a high level of PA. Both men and women aged 40-64years, have a high level of sedentary behavior: the higher percentages of a low and moderate physical activity correspond to diabetics aged 40-64, are respectively 16,84%, 31,58% (For male); and 16,24%, 41,03% (for women). There is no link between gender and the practice or not of physical activity (χ² =0,428 p=0.482>0 and V Cramer=0,044). Conclusion: Those diabetics present a low level of physical activity and a high level of sedentary behavior, which may lead to a lot of long-term complications. So to make sure of this hypothesis another research is necessary to study the impact of this lack of PA on the glycemic control of those diabetics.

Material and methods: the SPM test is used to measure general intelligence; the reliabilities of the SPM test are assessed by Cronbach’s Alpha; the SPM percentiles norms are compared to those of other countries by the medians. Findings: the reliabilities of the SPM test by age as assessed by Cronbach’s alpha are 0.84 to 0.9; the mean of the SPM scores of all subjects is (M=29.80/60, SD=12.92; (IQ=71.5)), the median score is 32 (IQ=76.8); the SPM scores obtained are considerably lower than those compared to the children at the same age in developed countries. Conclusions: the study reconfirmed the reliability of the SPM test; a combination of the usual suspects, including poverty, poor education family background, and rural area, impairs children’s intellectual development.

The aim of the present study is to assess the relation between smartphone overuse and see- king pleasure linked with reward system overstimulation and dopa- mine continuous release.A survey instrument using a web-based questionnaire distributed via social media was developed after a thorough literature review and was deployed to collect data from smartphone users. The study participants in total numbered 374 users from different age groups, with the average age being between 19 and 25 years old; with 227 females (60.9%) and 147 (39.1%) males. Responses to the Smart- phone Addiction Scale Short version (SAS-SV) test including 10- items were rated on a 6-point Likert scale, and their percentage mean score (PMS) was calculated. Factors associated with these outcomes were identified using descriptive and regression ana- lys...

Aim: This study aimed to determinethe association between adherence to a MedDiet and the riskof cognitive impairment (CI) among the elderly in Morocco.Due to their complete data, a sample of 172 (56.4% men) from 237 subjects were included in our study. Cognitive functions were assessed by the MMSE test (Mini-Mental State Examina- tion). Adherence to a MedDiet was assessed using a validated questionnaire based on weekly consumption of the seven main MedDiet foods: non-refined cereals, potatoes, fruits (whole or in juice), vegetables (cooked or as salad), legumes, fish, olive oil, and three foods consumed less frequently in a MedDiet: red meats, poultry, and full-fat dairy products. A binary logistic regression was performed, with cognitive function as the dependent variable MedDiet adherence score as well as the aliment consumption fre...

Phoenix dactylifera seeds are recently identified as a healthy functional food with rich amounts of phenolic compounds. Aims: To analyzing the phenolic profile obtained from Moroccan variety of date seeds and evaluating the inhibitory capacity against digestive enzymes and the antioxidant potential of phenolic fraction concentrate (PFC) of date seeds as a promising antihyperglycemic agent. Methods: Lineweaver–Burk plot analysis was performed to evaluate PFC inhibitory effect against digestive enzyme activity in the presence of different doses of a substrate. Wistar rats were recruited to determine the acute and sub-acute oral toxicity of PFC. Finally, the optimal dose of PFC was selected and its effects on metabolic, hematological and biochemical parameters were determined. Results: High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis reveale...
