Work-life balance is an important aspect of an employee's life. It is the ability to balance two ... more Work-life balance is an important aspect of an employee's life. It is the ability to balance two important aspects of an individual's life; pursuing a successful career and prioritizing personal or family matters. Many children neglect their parents due to working commitment and pressure to cope with the financial burden. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the relationship between job, family, individual, and career growth on the work-life balance of the caregiver. This article presented the stages of analysis taken to achieve these aims. Questionnaires were distributed online to the elderly caregiver and purposive sampling was adopted as the sampling procedure. The questionnaire was designed in two sections, one consisting of demographic information and the second relating to the determinants of the work-life balance. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version 27 was used for data analysis. The output from the descriptive statistics has provided a summary of the samples and the measures done on a particular study. It is used to describe the characteristics of a sample or data set. Next, the directions for this paper are to run for a reliability analysis followed by multiple regression analysis. This study advances current knowledge by shedding light on some important factors relating to work-life balance as eldercare issues need an eyeopener to the public.

Dewasa ini penterjemahan satu bahasa kepada bahasa yang lain bukan hanya melibatkan manusia sahaj... more Dewasa ini penterjemahan satu bahasa kepada bahasa yang lain bukan hanya melibatkan manusia sahaja tetapi ia juga dapat dilakukan melalui aplikasi-aplikasi penterjemahan yang boleh didapati di dalam internet. Pada mulanya kemampuan aplikasi-aplikasi ini adalah menterjemahkan satu-satu perkataan namun sejak akhir-akhir ini ada aplikasi yang kelihatannya dapat menterjemahkan bukan sahaja perkataan bahkan dapat menterjemahkan frasa ayat lengkap dan buku. Antara aplikasi yang sering digunakan dan mendapat sambutan yang menggalakkan ialah aplikasi Google Translate yang di dalamnya terdapat penterjemahan dari bahasa Melayu ke bahasa Arab dan sebaliknya. Namun begitu sejauh manakah ketepatan hasil terjemahan Google Translate, apakah ianya sesuai digunakan untuk menerjemahkan teks-teks bahasa Melayu yang akan diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Arab. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ketepatan Google Translate dalam proses menterjemahkan teks bahasa Melayu ke bahasa Arab dan menerangkan kesalahan-kesalahan yang didapati melalui skrip main peranan (role play) yang disediakan pelajar UiTM Cawangan Melaka sebagai sebahagian dari ujian berterusan sepanjang semester. Kajian ini diharapkan mampu memberikan manfaat kepada para pengkaji bahasa Arab agar meminimumkan penggunaan Google Translate serta memperhalusi hasil penterjemahan terutama dalam perkara yang berkaitan kosa kata dan struktur ayat. It has been concurred by many that modality is not an easy subject for ESL learners, despite it b... more It has been concurred by many that modality is not an easy subject for ESL learners, despite it being an essential device in argumentative writing, the genre of which coincidentally constitutes an important part of second-language learners' academic writing experience. This study was conducted to examine ESL students’ compositions in realising modal meaning, particularly that of requirement modal meaning within argumentative context. Data analysis indicated that most participants performed incompetently as the distributions of modal operators and modal meanings found in their writings were disproportionately concentrated to modal operators will, can and should, and modal meaning likelihood (positive), requirement (positive), ability (positive), and potential (positive). The use of traditional notebook remains relevant among students despite there being numerous kind... more The use of traditional notebook remains relevant among students despite there being numerous kinds of planners and writing pads sold on the market to cater the needs of consumers today. For some, the experience of using a notebook cannot be traded with the use of writing gadgets. Using notebooks also could assist with individual learnings as using appropriate supplemental materials and methods to organize and present only relevant information is thought to be able to increase the efficiency of the self-learning process (Ruiji, 2012). With literature on notebooks as the basis, this paper is attempting to extend the concept to the use of planner for class. The purpose of this paper is to study students’ perceptions of SemMinder English Planner (SEP) as a personalized planner in language learning. This paper also opens up a way for educators to incorporate their current lessons and materials into a personalized planner to increase students’ motivation and achievement.

It appears to be related to attitudes toward unethical behaviours in the workplace too. The purpose of this study is to determine the contributing factors towards the intention to engage in academic dishonesty among undergraduates in two private tertiary institutions in Melaka, Malaysia namely Universiti Multimedia and Kolej Universiti Islam Melaka. The research instrument was a survey questionnaire consisting of questions, adapted from Beck and Azjen (1991) which comprised five (5) components of modified theory of planned behaviours; intention to perform academic misconduct, attitude towards cheating, subjective norms, perceived behavioural control, and perceived locus of control. Beyond the rich history of Melaka which mainly revolves around colonisation and trading, lies the... more Beyond the rich history of Melaka which mainly revolves around colonisation and trading, lies the unique account of languages which are spoken only by a few members of the community. Malay, Chinese, and Indian are not the only communities who regard Melaka as their home as there are those who are known as the peranakan and they are Chetty, Baba Nyonya, and Melaka Portuguese communities. What is interesting about these communities is how some of them still use their own languages; Malay Chetty Creole, Baba Malay Creole, and Melaka Portuguese Creole, respectively. However, the fate of these languages is unclear. Review of literature has shown that the languages are facing language shift and the efforts for language maintenance should be undertaken seriously.

Today, translation of one language into another not only involves humans but it can also be done ... more Today, translation of one language into another not only involves humans but it can also be done through translation applications available on the internet. At first the ability of these apps was to translate one word but lately there have been applications that seem to translate not only words but can translate complete sentence and book phrases. The applications that are commonly used and well received is Google Translate application in which there is a translation of the Malay language to Arabic and vice versa. But how accurate is Google Translate to be used to translate the texts of the Malay language into Arabic. Therefore, this study aims to explore the accuracy of Google Translate in translating text from Malay to Arabic language and explain the errors found by the script role play provided by UiTM Melaka Branch students as part of an ongoing test during the semester. This study is expected to benefit Arabic language learners to minimize the use of Google Translate and to fine-tune the translation results especially in terms of vocabulary and sentence structure.

This paper seeks to identify and examine the influences of Universiti Teknologi MARA, Melaka stat... more This paper seeks to identify and examine the influences of Universiti Teknologi MARA, Melaka state campus (UiTM Melaka) to the local industry development. This is based on the premise that higher learning institutions are often expected to contribute positively to the local industry where they settled in. A simple random sampling was employed, and 50 respondents participated by answering questionnaires which were prepared as a data collection method. The goal is to discover the impacts of UiTM Melaka on the local industry development, mainly in the aspects of market opportunity, consultancy, human resource, and training. Descriptive statistics and frequency analysis were utilised in the study and the results reveal that the presence of UiTM Melaka does offer significant influences on the local industry development in the stated aspects. UiTM Melaka has been found to impact mostly small local industries. Market opportunity, consultation, followed by training, and lastly human resources are four important aspects which have been impacted by the existence of UiTM Melaka. These findings provide substantial repercussions to university management and policymakers to assess existing strategies to enhance the function of universities as institutes which offer allencompassing and comprehensive relationship with the local industry or business.

It is generally argued that knowledge is free from any intrinsic values that may render it biased toward a culture or religious tradition (Bashir, 2000). However, Muslim scholars such as Ismail Al-Faruqi and Syed Naquib Al-Attas refuted such claim as they believe such perception would put Muslim students at risk of being helpless against the onslaught of scientifc truth. Survey research design was employed to execute this investigation in which a number of educators from various felds offered in UiTM Melaka were selected to answer 11 questions related to their awareness and perception, attitude, and implementation of Islamization of knowledge. Declining vocabulary and poor comprehension of complex sentences are some depleting language skil... more Declining vocabulary and poor comprehension of complex sentences are some depleting language skills faced by the elderly. As such, this study explored the cues that construct young people's understanding of effective communication within the older and young adult dyad. Qualitative data retrieved from open-ended questions were thematically analysed, and specific facets that contribute to understanding age-related differences were developed. The results catalysed the development of the Integrative Language-based Communication Diagram that could reduce the prevalence of communication breakdown. This environmental approach can also help elders adapt communication to be a necessary tool for living safely and independently.

Many higher education institutions have adopted the approach, and this raised a question of readiness among the students involved. The study aimed at investigating the students’ readiness on English language blended learning. A total of 137 students of different courses from a public university in Melaka participated in the study. They were asked to answer a questionnaire which involved five aspects to measure the students’ readiness on English language blended learning such as technical abilities, technological accessibility, self-directed learning, attitude towards traditional classroom setting and attitude towards blended classroom setting.
