The researchers use two stages of methods with a full review of the literature and concepts of green capabilities, practices, and triple bottom line being identified in the first phase. In the second phase, the data were collected through in-depth interviews with vital personnel in the strategic and purchasing decision-making areas of six local ISO 14001 EMS certified companies, dominated by manufacturers from the packaging industry, to verify the concepts explored in phase one. The results signified the consistency between decision-makers and researchers, after being re-classified and re-defined based on the experts' opinions, to develop a conceptual framework of environmental purchasing, which is limited in the body of literature. The study aids academicians and industry practitioners in understanding the concept and structure of green purchasing initiatives in the context of manufacturing firms unambiguously. Future research should explore other capabilities and practice dimensions that will lead to firm performance. Further, studies could include examining the difference of socio-cultural, political, economic, and institutional backgrounds from another country, which might be the critical factors influencing the green purchasing adoption.

Specifically, this paper explores the green-purchasing capabilities of buyer firms under the influence of institutional pressures in supplier selection, development, collaboration and evaluation in support of environmental purchasing. Design/methodology/approach Questionnaire survey method was used to gather data from 163 ISO 14001-certified manufacturing firms in Malaysia. Partial least squares was used for hypotheses testing. Findings Green-purchasing capabilities, such as manufacturing, financial, intraorganisational and integration capabilities, have a significant positive effects on green-purchasing practices. However, innovation capabilities have no significant effect on green-purchasing practices. Regulation, customer and competitor pressure positively moderate the relatio...

Green capability is characterized in terms of product recovery, supply chain integration, and environmentally friendly manufacturing. A structural equation model using survey data drawn from ISO 14001 certified manufacturers in Malaysia is used to test the research hypotheses. The results reveal that recovery and integration capabilities positively influence product returns, while manufacturing and integration capabilities and product returns influence closed loop supply chain adoption. The results also indicate that the volume, type, timing, and quality of product returns partially mediate relationships between recovery and integration capabilities and closed-loop supply chain adoption. The findings highlight the importance of taking into account the complexities of product returns as part of efforts to increase the effects of green capabilities on closed-loop supply chain adoption.

The increasing of global warming and depletion of natural resources has become a concern for soci... more The increasing of global warming and depletion of natural resources has become a concern for society, government and industry. There is a growing importance on recovery of used materials and products amongst industry players. The Malaysian government has conducted many green campaigns and provided incentives for some green practices; however, the adoption of product return and recovery management is still low amongst automotive manufacturers. Therefore, it is important to understand the obstacles towards product return adoption so that the countermeasures can be thought of to overcome this situation. The objective of this paper is to investigate the barriers of product return management amongst automotive manufacturing firms in Malaysia. A total of 228 automotive manufacturers and assemblers were identified as the sampling frame, which was selected based on the census sampling method due to the limited sample size of the study. The data was analysed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) with the measurement model had shown sufficient model fit and the structural model revealed that the data supported the hypothesised model. The large effect size and higher than zero values of the predictive capabilities imply that the model has sufficient variance explained for the predictive capability of the hypotheses testing of the study. Based on the results, this study has found that the resource barrier has a significant effect on the level of adoption of product returns. Specifically, the resource barrier and the extent of the manufacturing return adoption were positively related (b ¼ 0.361, p < 0.01), resource barrier and the extent of the distribution returns (b ¼ 0.252, p < 0.05), and resource barrier and the extent of the customer returns (b ¼ 0.333, p < 0.01). The result reflects that automotive manufacturers have a lack of resources to afford the product return implementation; as a matter of fact, high initial investments in terms of finances, human resources, and time are required for the product return adoption. Other variables of the study, such as the attitudinal and perception barrier, information barrier, and technical barrier, were found to be insignificant with the adoption of product return management. As a conclusion, this study discovered that the resource barrier was the major obstacle that impeded the automotive manufacturers in Malaysia from adopting the product return management. The outcome is expected to help policy makers, manufacturers as well as stakeholders in setting appropriate policies and strategies to improve the product return and recovery management adoption.

In relation to this, a cross-sectional survey has been carried out to 700 companies to obtain quantitative data for statistical testing of the hypotheses. The results of the study indicate that eco-efficiency practices have direct influence on the adoption of sustainable packaging and consequently sustainable packaging does affect the sustainable supply chain performance of the firm.

Nevertheless, the growing demand in reverse supply chain services has prompted a review of 3PLs, its present strategic orientation and its response to the demand of reverse supply chain services. In this context, three major green orientation strategies have been identified from the literature-innovation-based, efficiency-based and reputation-based. The institutional theory is used to provide a reasonable base for explaining the need for 3PLs to have the right strategic orientation to provide organisational positioning in delivering effective and efficient reverse supply chain services. Drawing on the proposed framework, both new and established researchers are expected to benefit from the frame of reference for future research.

There are many antecedents that are related to repatriate children's readjustment. However, individual-related factors specific to the repatriate children are the main focus of the present study. For repatriate children, we found that satisfaction with new friends and acquaintances is significantly related to their psychological well-being and general readjustment to the home country. Furthermore, dismissive-avoidant attachment style among repatriate children is negatively and significantly related to repatriates' well-being. The present study indicates that repatriate children's readjustment to the home country is imperative for repatriates' own readjustment process. The repatriates' psychological well-being was found to have been significantly related to their spouses' well-being and children's general readjustment. In addition, the present study findings highlight that it is compulsory for repatriates to take into consideration the performance of the readjustment practices among their family members when they return to their own country. Such consideration is important in view of the impact of the readjustment process of their family to their career achievement in their home country.

This is important as organizations can no longer ignore or accumulate returns at the back of the warehouse. This paper identifies the barriers that impede PRRM among manufacturing firms in Malaysia, and provide useful summary data and analysis to entice firms to consider adopting PPRM. This study reviewed 38 journal articles, which were subsequently validated through field interviews using multiple case study method. The content analysis reveals that the two major obstacles are financial and resource constraints, which fall within the category of internal barriers. However, the results of the interviews with six manufacturers in Malaysia indicate that external barriers are the main obstacles that hinder the adoption of PRRM, thus suggesting that there may be a subtle difference between the results reported in academic research and managers' perceptions of the barriers of product returns and recovery management. The external barriers, such as customers' operational performance and perception, are perceived by managers to be detrimental to the adoption of PRRM, which is contradictory to the academic findings. In addition, financial and resource constraints impede the adoption of PRRM. This suggests that further study should be conducted by expanding the sample size to continue to empirically explore the barriers of PRRM. This study helps policy makers in emerging countries in general and Malaysia, in particular, in setting appropriate policies and strategies to improve product returns and recovery of manufacturing firms.

CLSCs is the ultimate sustainability concept in Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) that currently draws the attention from practitioners as well as the academicians. CLSCs involves the integration between the forward and reverse logistics with the aim of reducing the waste. In this paper, the method of content analysis was used to review articles published in the areas of production and operations management, business logistics and logistics management. The result of review revealed that the study in CLSCs is still limited and inadequate. Nevertheless, the research in the area is growing due to its prominent contribution towards social, economic and environmental protection. Hence, the study is expected to benefit the researchers by providing appropriate research direction for future research in the field of CLSCs.
