In the technical field, it is often the diagrams, designs, and other types of illustrations the teachers accompany their instruction or facilitate practical work of their pupils with. Of course, primary school teacher trainees get acquainted with such materials in the higher education study process as well as within the school study placements. As the materials are intended to express a sequence of production steps, they are often drawn in series where the individual images are phased. Such arrangement is generally accepted as understandable and with greater potential to guide the readers' actions. Nevertheless, the question may occur whether the readers perceive such instruction materials in the same way they perceive ordinary images. This was assessed by, eye-tracking technology, the basic tool of the research, which analyses the respondents' eye movements when looking at images on the computer monitor screen. The technology can determine what the respondent is looking at while solving the task. The results in the form of qualitative and quantitative data were compared with the data taken with common images and text tasks. Statistically significant differences were found that are discussed in conclusion together with other findings.

Similar situation is in the field of technological literacy. There is just a little known about interactions and influences between these two literacies. How is one affecting other? Is there a connection between them? How to assess this connection? When and why do people act environmentally or technologically? These are the questions the article wanted to answer. The design of the research is qualitative. The series of interviews was conducted among Czech pre-service teachers of primary school of all grades. The interviews were analyzed and the results are presented in a standard way. The results show that the relationship between the environmental and technical literacy is not clear and easy to read, but there are “contact areas” that should be focused on in the future research. The conclusion of the article is proposal for quantitative research containing research questions.

The NIM game has a positive influence on development of logical and abstract thinking and reasoning. The paper focuses on usage of this game at specific fields of math and programming i.e. converting of numbers into binary system, working with some of the Excell functions and usage of Visual basic for application as Excell supplement.

A wide range of research tools and scales is used for the measurement of proenvironmental attitudes in quantitative way. The best known and most widely used both in the world and in the Czech Republic is the New Environmental Paradigm (Dunlap & Van Liere, 1978) or New ecological paradigm (Dunlap et al. 2000), which has been modified several times and was used to detect environmental attitudes among various demographic groups. One of these are teachers and pre-service teachers (student teachers), who bear the major responsibility for the attitudes of the pupils. It is, therefore important to be able to identify environmental attitudes of students and teachers to assess the impacts of environmental action in their previous life and during their studies at universities. In the paper, we describe the possibilities of verifying the new ecological paradigm scale among pre-service primary teachers from the Czech Republic. The primary objective is to determine what are the possibilities and limits of this research tool and its subscales. We focused on reliability and construct validity of the scale. Furthermore, we investigate what effects have selected socio-demographic variables (age, gender, type of study) on those attitudes. New ecological paradigm scale as a whole is useful to identify the attitudes of pre-service teachers (Cronbach's α = .79), but its individual subscales are not applicable by themselves. That is also confirmed by item analysis of the scale. We discuss the possible problems of the use of the scale among pre-service primary teachers.

This paper attempts to make a thorough, comprehensive and analytical study by exploring the causes of becoming an individual substance abuse in relation to psychological factor, peer group pressure, joyfulness, tension remover, rebelliousness, intercultural influences, curiosity, climatic condition, easy availability, future insecurity and modernization. From the result of the research the administrator, teachers and parents may help children through early education about psychoactive substances, open communications, good role modeling, and early recognition if problems are developing. No single measure would be effective to prevent the use of drugs until and unless home, school and society all the three collectively and cooperatively tackle the problems of substances abuse from different angles.

It is this assumption that leads to the question what logical reasoning in terms of understanding logical connections and general and existential quantifier are pupils of primary school capable of and what impact different approaches or methods in teaching have on this ability. It is necessary to describe the target group in terms of cognitive, verbal and also neurological development in relation to cognitive functions and logical thinking. Also discussed were the issues of the possibility of defining and measuring the logical thinking level, of the effect of gender on the level of logical thinking or of influence of its level on a pupil's assessment in mathematics. The testing was carried out on 420 respondents attending the fourth and fifth year of primary schools in the Czech Republic. About half of these respondents attend schools that use conventional methods and about half attend schools with other methods. It is interesting that pupils thought, for example, according to methodologies based on the principles of constructivism reached a higher score in the test focusing on the level of logical thinking than pupils that are taught according to conventional values. However, the survey of statistical significance showed that this difference is not statistically significant. In contrast, the influence of ability to understand basic logical connections on school assessment seems to be significant. The issue of gender influence or other intervening variables on a pupil's ability to work with the basic logical operators is further discussed in the article.

Answer to question if there are any groups among the teachers which significantly differ in approaches to teaching in term of optional aims, methods and forms of teaching is investigated. Questionnaires focused on aims of teaching and also Q-methodology in sphere of methods and forms were used as the research methods. These surveys were carried out in terms of project Non-verbal creativity in vocational education-GAČR 406/07/0109 and project of the Internal Grant Agency of the Faculty of Education of UJEP Development of Competences in Pupils of Younger School Age in Sphere of Psychomotor Skills.
