Today, we operate across the globe, in multiple markets to support our customers - wherever, whenever and whatever their challenges may be. We support them across the whole life cycle of the air sector - from design, development and production, through to provision of aircraft, training, support and maintenance. To achieve this we collaborate with partners large and small, from within and beyond the defence sector both from the UK and around the globe. Our international Air sector enables even greater collaboration, as we work with agility and focus in support of our customers.

Through this contribution, we deliver a range of strategic benefits to the UK, from nurturing high skilled jobs and fostering industry innovation, to stimulating economic growth and strengthening diplomatic partnerships between the UK and its allies. The work we do supports more than 70,000 jobs in the UK and we rely on 1,400 UK-based suppliers and SMEs whose specialist capabilities are essential in ensuring the UK’s defence industry remains world leading. Our team of engineers has supported the first guided firing of an MBDA SPEAR missile as part of a trial to deliver new capability for the UK. A Eurofighter Typhoon test and evaluation aircraft from our site in Warton, UK carried out the successful trial of the next generation stand-off weapon in support of the UK F-35B Lightning fleet. Our highly-skilled people, including our test pilot who flew the trial, worked alongside a joint UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and industry team to complete the firing from the Vidsel test range in Sweden. Chris Moon, our UK Delivery Director for Typhoon Capability, said: “This successful firing from Typhoon is as a result of the hard work and outstanding collaboration between MBDA, MoD and BAE Systems personnel over many months. “We now look forward to the next phase of SPEAR trials, as well as delivering the testing of many other world-leading capabilities in support of the RAF Typhoon Force." Once in service with the UK F-35 fleet, SPEAR will provide a potent new strike capability for both the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force (RAF). 🇬🇧🇩🇪🇮🇹🇪🇸Since it first entered service, we have worked alongside our European partners to constantly evolve the Eurofighter Typhoon ready for the challenges of tomorrow. An independent study published by PwC in 2024 shows the potential value of increased export sales of Typhoon the economics of the jet’s European partner nations – Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK. The sales of 200 additional aircraft to export and domestic customers would mean around 30% of the investment of partner nations would return as tax revenues.
