- Our partnership with International Air Transport Association (IATA) for innovation recently took a major step with a groundbreaking proof-of-concept journey between Hong Kong and Tokyo. Two travellers used digital wallets and biometric ID for a seamless experience — no traditional documents required. This PoC validated IATA’s Modern Airline Retailing and One ID standards, showing that verifiable digital credentials can simplify the entire journey from booking to boarding. Exciting times ahead as we work towards universal digital travel experiences, setting new standards in efficiency and data security for all travellers. The airline industry keeps going forward and events like the IATA World Financial Symposium & World Passenger Symposium are a symbol of that. The 2024 edition brought together in Bangkok, Thailand, industry experts to address critical trends and challenges in aviation. Localised website: The content is localised and varies for each defined country. Multiple Language: The site is available in 4 languages – English, French, Simplified Chinese and Italian. Personalised Content: The overall content in English has been completely revisited to provide clear, easy to read and contextual information to users. Rich Media: We have used fresh images from customised photo shooting to emphasize the overall customer experience throughout the customer journey. 🌍✈️ Fully Digital Travel Experience is Closer to Reality! ✈️🌍 A seamless, fully digital travel journey powered by digital identity and biometrics has moved from theory ➡️ reality. In October 2️⃣ passengers completed a fully digital journey between Airport Authority Hong Kong and Narita International Airport Corporation airport on Cathay Pacific using digital wallets and travel credentials. The #airport elements of the trip were conducted in a live environment, building on an initial trial carried out in a test environment in 2023. The proof of concept (PoC) demonstrated: 📱 Digital Identity & Biometrics in Action: Passengers navigated airport processes smoothly without presenting physical documents, leveraging digital passports and biometric ID. 📱 Seamless Integration of Verifiable Credentials: Credentials like ePassports, boarding passes, and visas were securely managed through two digital wallets. 📱 Interoperability: This PoC showed digital credentials' adaptability across international borders and multiple travel stages. 📱 Trusted Issuer Registry Tested: This system verifies that a credential was issued by a trusted entity.
