Christie’s Private Sales offers a seamless service for buying and selling art, jewellery and watches outside of the auction calendar, working exclusively with Christie’s specialists at a client’s individual pace. Recent innovations at Christie’s include the groundbreaking sale of the first NFT for a digital work of art ever offered at a major auction house (Beeple’s Everydays, March 2021), with the unprecedented acceptance of cryptocurrency as a means of payment. As an industry leader in digital innovation, Christie’s also continues to pioneer new technologies that are redefining the business of art, including the creation of viewing and bidding experiences that integrate augmented reality, global livestreaming, buy-now channels, and hybrid sales formats. Christie’s is dedicated to advancing responsible culture throughout its business and communities worldwide, including achieving sustainability through net zero carbon emissions by 2030.

Today marks a significant milestone for Christie's in our commitment to sustainability! I am pleased to announce that our ambitious plan to reach Net Zero and reduce carbon emissions by 90% by 2050 has been officially approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), the UN-backed organization setting global standards for carbon measurement. Christie’s is now the only auction house to commit to such rigorous goals under the independent scrutiny of SBTi. As we work towards this vision, we are proud to collaborate with key partners like Crozier Fine Arts, Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC), ROKBOX, Dietl International Services, and Delaware National Art Company, LLC, to drive sustainability in our industry without compromising the quality of service we provide. We recognize there’s still much work ahead, and we are far from complacent. Our commitment is to collaborate with the wider art community and drive lasting, systemic change. We will continue to keep you updated on our progress as we move forward on this important journey. And we will of course continue in parallel to support charitable initiatives in the field of sustainability, as we recently did in London with Blue Marine Foundation, auctioneering works from more than 20 world leading artists, including one photograph captured during a unique performance by Marina Abramović in May 2024 stressing the urgent need for the preservation of the ocean.Julien Pradels David Findlay #sustainability #climatechange - Christie's reposted this

Football legend Zinedine Zidane was in Geneva today for a great cause! As the ambassador for Association ELA, the European Leukodystrophy Association, he joined us at Christie's Rare Watches auction, which raised an outstanding 843,000 CHF in support of ELA’s mission. Eleven exceptional #watches, donated by Richard Mille, Andersen Genève & BCHH, ArtyA Watches, ATAELIER HAUTE COMPLICATION, BOVET, Girard Perregaux, Konstantin Chaykin Watch Manufacture, Louis Erard SA, Montblanc, OMEGA SA & Swatch and Ulysse Nardin were offered without reserve. We extend our deepest gratitude to these manufacturers for their generosity and to the bidders who made this event a resounding success. Funds raised from this event will go directly to supporting critical research and providing daily assistance to patients and their families affected by leukodystrophies. This meaningful cause is also personally supported by François-Henri Pinault, Kering CEO and from the family that owns Christie’s, who has been committed to ELA for many years. Many thanks to guy alba and jean-Luc Corti President and general secretary of ELA international, to Remi Guillemin, head of Watches at Christie’s Europe and US, and Rahul Kadakia, auctioneer for the sale, for their teamwork on this project. Christie’s feels privileged to play a role in supporting such an impactful project! - A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our 3rd Annual 'Apprentices Assemble' on Wednesday evening! It was amazing to see so many of our Apprentices coming together, connecting, networking, and having fun from across all 8 of our cohorts. One of the highlights was our interactive networking activity that got everyone talking and connecting. It was fantastic to watch as people engaged, shared ideas, reconnected or make new connections; sharing their experiences since their time at Christie’s. We're already looking forward to next year and can’t wait to see how all of you continue to grow and thrive in your future careers #EarlyCareers #Networking #ApprenticeAssemble #Christie’s

Luxury at Christie's christies.com - Christie's will celebrate the memory of Rose Valland this fall through two major events. Rose Valland (1898-1980), art historian at the Jeu de Paume, played a decisive role in the restitution of works of art looted by the Nazis during the Occupation. She secretly collected valuable information on the looted works, mainly from private collections belonging to Jewish owners, while they were stored at the Jeu de Paume. These notes were crucial in helping the Monuments Men find these works after the war. On November 21, a painting by Nicolas de Largillière, Portrait of a Woman at Mid-Body, looted and recovered thanks to information from Rose Valland, will be auctioned at Christie's in Paris. This painting, found at Neuschwanstein Castle in 1945 by the Monuments Men, has become a symbol of their action - not least thanks to a famous photo. On 10 December, in New York, the Monuments Men and Women Foundation will launch the first English translation of Rose Valland's 'Le Front de l'Art', produced with the support of Christie's, finally making this essential work in the historiography of cultural spoliations accessible to an English-speaking audience. Our CEO, Guillaume Cerutti, also pays tribute to our restitution team in his post below.

- ❗❗Marquee Week Evening Sale Results ❗❗ Christie's is pleased to announce the 20/21 London Evening Sale achieved a total of £81,980,050 with a strong sell through rate of 89% by lot and 96% by value. Additionally, our Modern British and Irish Art Evening Sale realised £14,370,000 with a sell through rates of 81% by lot and 85% by value. The sales leading highlights include a piece by Lucian Freud and Henry Moore’s Rocking Chair No. 3.#Auction #Christies #sale
