The load testing team have been working their magic on M/Y Naia, a 73m Freire motor yacht. This vessel has two large twin boom gantry cranes made by Ferri that span the entire beam of the boat. New 28mm DynaOne crane cables were spliced and installed along with fabrication of Nitronic 50 sheave pins. A thorough examination was done on all critical components and a proof load test performed in the Bay of Palma giving us the freedom to move through the lifting appliances full range of motion. Each crane has a Work Load Limit (WLL) of 7000kg and both need to be tested simultaneously in order to verify the supporting gantry structure. We used a 10t water load bag on one fall and a 5t + 3t in tandem on the other.
