How could RAPID strengthen national coordination alongside regional system planning? Should RAPID expand to cover waste water or other strategically important projects? Your views will help shape how RAPID and the Major Water Infrastructure Programme operates in England during the Transition Period. The consultation will not pre-empt new regulatory arrangements, but will be used to inform policy and operational development of the functions of the new regulator. - Defining criteria for RAPID involvement: asking what should trigger our involvement, and the types of projects that should fall inside or outside of our scope - Scope and remit: asking whether we should go beyond Strategic Resource Options to include infrastructure that places significant demand on water and wastewater systems. This could include large non-household growth hubs, industrial clusters, or sustainable drainage systems (SuDS). - Accelerating delivery through regulatory coordination: asking for views on how our processes can be better aligned with planning and procurement checkpoints - RAPID’s role alongside regional system planning: We're looking for thoughts on how our role could complement regional systems planning, seeking insights on how our delivery-focused coordination role can best complement emerging architecture and supplement national co-ordination and coherence The consultation covers a range of areas responding to the Independent Water Commission's recommendation that RAPID's remit be expanded. Have your say by 21 July 2026. Find out more and respond to the consultation here 👇 https://lnkd.in/e879Wb3m Environment Agency | Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) | Ofwat
`` - The government is introducing a new measure to strengthen safeguards around banned breed dogs in the home, following a rise in the number of attacks. Owners of exempted banned breed dogs must not leave a child under the age of 12 in close proximity to their dog in a domestic or private setting without adult supervision. This will be a formal condition of the Certificate of Exemption. Further guidance will be published ahead of the 1 November implementation date. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/eK3TsSu7

This #WorldOceansDay 🌊 we’re highlighting our successes and continuing to take action to protect and restore our seas: We’ve passed landmark legislation to support the protection of marine biodiversity beyond national waters – a key step towards strengthening international ocean governance. At home, we’re reviewing England’s Marine Protected Area network to ensure sites are in the right places with the right protections to support nature recovery. More than 60% of our marine protected areas already have protections in place. We’re now considering further fisheries rules to better protect our seas where needed, and our Marine Recovery Fund will drive nature recovery whilst unlocking clean power. Internationally, we’ll be working with partners and global leaders at the Our Ocean Conference to drive solutions to the world’s most pressing ocean challenges. - With 13 newly designated bathing water sites across the country, there are now over 460 in total to choose from – but how do you know where is best to swim? Our Chief Scientist Anjali Goswami explains how. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/eFxdUmGv
