About us

Edinburgh Airport is Scotland's busiest airport, handling more than 13.4 million passengers in 2017 - a record for a Scottish airport. Flying to more than 151 destinations and on 222 routes, Edinburgh Airport Ltd directly employs over 600 people and with our partner businesses operating at campus brings the total number of employees to 7,000. An independent economic study published in March 2016 by Biggar Economics showed that we support over 23,000 jobs across Scotland. Edinburgh Airport Ltd has made a commitment to the Scottish Business Pledge - a partnership to champion inclusive growth and fair employment practices.

🆕| Hear more about what we're doing to improve our check-in hall, with works now underway. Zones A and D will be redesigned over the winter months creating more space, a more modern look and feel, and a better experience for passengers. 🥂| A new way to start your escape. Escape Lounges will arrive at the airport in spring 2025, providing a new option for passengers looking to toast their trip with something special. We are excited to announce that Escape Lounges, will be opening at Edinburgh Airport in spring 2025. This new location will be our seventh Escape Lounge in the UK, offering travellers a premium airport experience with 135 seats located near Gate 4.Linsey Jordan, Head of Retail at Edinburgh Airport, said: "We know many people like to start their travels with a touch of luxury, and the arrival of the new Escape Lounge will deliver yet more top-class experiences in our terminal." 👷| We're making improvements to our check-in hall. Works are set to start on a £5.8 million project to redesign the hall, creating more space and enhancing the experience for passengers. New self service technology and digital wayfinding will be introduced, while the area will be modernised with a fresh new look and feel. EDI is now part of the VINCI Airports network of more than 70 airports across the world, and the project will draw on this experience and expertise to deliver the best solution for passengers. This strategy sits under the airport's Greater Good sustainability strategy and examines the ways we can help foster a species-rich future, resilient to environmental change, while the airport continues to develop. 🆕| It's ale change at the airport... An extended BrewDog bar and a new Sainsbury's store are among the changes coming to the terminal amid a major revamp for passengers. BrewDog opened its first ever airport bar at EDI in 2019 and due to its success will now be moving into a larger premises, with an expanded food menu and even more beer taps. And Sainsbury’s will launch its new shop – complete with an in-store bakery - before security in the coming months. This represents the supermarket chain’s first airport store. 🌱 | On VINCI Airports Environment Day we're showcasing some of the work happening across the airport to help achieve our goals around environment and sustainability. A range of projects are on the go as we continue to build on our Greater Good sustainability strategy, and we've been using the day to shine a light on these with workshops taking place with our campus partners. These include sessions on our Net Zero Strategy and solar farm with members of our Energy Taskforce; talks on our waste process with colleagues from our waste contractor SWR; a workshop on our soon-to-be-published Biodiversity Strategy; and an electric coach tour of some of our decarbonisation projects across the airfield. Our teams have also been out volunteering this week with Butterfly Conservation Scotland, helping restore the land at Braehead Bog by removing invasive spruce. ✈| It's always EDI to Philadelphia.American Airlines will return with direct flights between Edinburgh and Philly in '25, providing another top connection to North America. The airline will be back in Scotland’s capital to operate the daily service next summer, with its first flight from EDI departing on 24 May. 🔓| Next level unlocked! Edinburgh Airport has become the first in Scotland to achieve a global carbon accreditation as it continues to build on its Greater Good sustainability strategy. The airport is now Level 4 Transformation in the Airport Carbon Accreditation (ACA) scheme - one of the highest levels in the global carbon management certification programme for airports. This follows extensive engagement and partnerships with stakeholders, airlines and campus partners; work to map the emissions existing within the airport’s supply chain; and the publication of a new Net Zero strategy. Edinburgh Airport is now part of VINCI Airports’ network, all of its +70 airports are part of this program, and its ambition is to reach net zero emission for its European and UK airports by 2030. Four airports have already reached the net zero emission, Level 5, in Toulon Hyères in France and Beja, Madeira and Ponta Delgada in Portugal.
