Supporting the North East of Scotland's transition to become the Net Zero Energy Capital of Europe
About us
The North East of Scotland has a clear ambition to transform into a globally recognised and integrated energy cluster, focussed on accelerating net-zero through energy transition activities. The unrivalled critical mass of skills, experience and infrastructure, drawing upon 50 years of operating a world class oil and gas sector, means Aberdeen is ideally placed within the UK to deliver a world-leading energy transition zone. ETZ Ltd is a private sector led, not for profit company created to drive forward the vision of transforming the North East of Scotland to become a global leader in energy transition activities and a net exporter of energy transition technologies and skills. At the core of ETZ Ltd is the ambition to deliver the Energy Transition Zone, a purpose-built net zero green space, connected to the coastline and adjacent to the new £350m deepwater harbour development at Aberdeen South Harbour. This 70-hectare space will be a leading-edge catalyst for innovation and high value manufacturing, a centre of excellence for offshore floating wind and other offshore renewables, for hydrogen and for carbon capture and storage.

Our Land & Planning Director Neil Young has welcomed reports that Shell have submitted plans to redevelop the site of their former HQ in the Altens Industrial Estate as a charging hub for electric vehicles. Mr Young said: “If progressed, these plans would see Shell making a welcome, positive and significant investment in the Energy Transition Zone. “Establishing the firm’s first all EV-facility in Scotland is fitting way to mark their continued presence in Aberdeen and would further cement the transformational journey this city and region is on as we strive to become global leaders in the race to net zero.” https://lnkd.in/ev8NTyZD

- Our Chairman, Sir Ian Wood, has welcomed the confirmation from the Prime Minister that GB Energy, the publicly owned clean energy company, will be headquartered in Aberdeen. “It is hugely welcome that GB Energy is to be headquartered in Aberdeen.
