About us
First Bus is one of the UK’s largest bus operators delivering over a million passenger journeys every week for the communities that we serve. Making journeys easier for our customers, we were the first national bus operator to rollout Tap On, Tap Off payment technology across our entire UK fleet of 4500 buses and our First Bus App is voted ‘best in class’ amongst UK bus operators. Our most recent investments are in new, state-of-the-art buses with over 15% of our fleet being Zero Emission Bus (ZEBs) by March 2024 across all of our key networks. We work proactively with our local authority partners, making a positive impact on air quality, tackling congestion and improving customer experience. We are focused on First Bus becoming a leader in the transition to a low-carbon future and are committed to operating a zero-emission bus fleet by 2035. We also operate the Aircoach network in Ireland, as well as First Travel Solutions, Specialist Passenger Solutions and Ensignbus. First Bus is a division of FirstGroup. A ground-breaking partnership between First Bus and Police Scotland in Aberdeen is helping local officers keep their electric cars on the roads. Officers using the service’s electric vehicles can now access 12 ultra rapid chargers within the First Bus depot in the city’s King Street. Newly delivered marked vehicles available to North East officers can be fully charged in as little as 25 minutes, while the batteries on unmarked cars can be restored to maximum charge in one hour. The extended charging network will enable the division to accelerate its adoption of more unmarked vehicles. It’s currently on track to have around 90 per cent of its unmarked fleet as ultra-low emission vehicles in the near future. Read more here https://orlo.uk/UTFfT -

We might be fashionably late, but we’re bringing our own bussin’ twist to the ‘Gen Z Writes the Marketing Script’ trend, joining brands like Currys plc, RNLI and Edinburgh Zoo. 🎬 This playful EV charging content does more than just follow the latest trends – it shines a light on the growing shift to bus travel as car ownership becomes more costly. Big thanks to Andy Gwilliam, MAPM, our Decarbonisation Product & Propositions Manager, for being such a great sport and stealing the show! 🌟 Want to show your support? Follow us on TikTok or Instagram @FirstBusOfficial. #GenZ #GenZLife #GenZMarketing #Slay #FYP #Bussin #LateToTheParty #LateToTheTrend #Viral - A massive congrats to David Copley, one of our Bradford bus drivers, for winning Frontline Employee of the Year at this year's National Transport Awards! 🎉 We're really proud to celebrate David's quick-thinking and bravery that prevented the kidnap of a child. First Bus North & West Yorkshire has now become a supporter of the NSPCC and its Listen Up, Speak Up campaign to highlight how everyone can help safeguard children from abuse. The charity is helping us with workshops at six of our depots across North & West Yorkshire to cascade information, online training and resources to drivers. This will help arm them with advice and awareness of how to report a situation they may see during the working day, or to respond to a customer who has witnessed a situation on the bus or street 🚍

A fair fare? Not so much. That’s why we teamed up with First Bus to launch this cheeky OOH campaign, taking a swipe at the recently reintroduced peak train fares nearly doubling the average ticket cost. The campaign appeared across 14 sites throughout Glasgow, a stone’s throw from the city’s train stations, Queen Street and Central—and was further activated with a round of free coffees for stressed-out commuters. “While we’re happy that Glasgow commuters are choosing to travel by public transport, the bus offers a fantastic option for commuters. With the reintroduction of peak rail pricing, we wanted to brighten commuters’ days by providing a warm coffee to help them on their journey, whether by bus, train, or foot. Our goal is to show commuters and travellers that taking the bus is an affordable, reliable and economical choice, and with First Bus, they can always count on a fair fare.”Graeme Macfarlan, Commercial Director at First Bus Scotland “Our latest campaign champions everything that is good about the bus—from its stable pricing structure to its alignment with the needs of everyday people. First Bus is a cherished client here at MadeBrave—a trusted partner with a shared sense of bravery and ambition. They understand the power of work that creates fame, that breaks free of category norms and ‘Fair’s Fare’ is a great example of this. We’re delighted to see it out in the wild making waves.” Our Executive Creative Director, Steven HaddenMore here -https://lnkd.in/e_gVXZQA#FirstBus #Campaign #OOH #MadeBrave - Exciting news! A big thank you to everyone who visited us at The Labour Party Conference in Liverpool. It’s been a fantastic few days with hundreds of visitors, and we're grateful for the insightful conversations we had. From discussing our white paper on the future of public transport to hearing directly from attendees about the challenges and opportunities across the UK, it's been a truly valuable experience. Special thanks to Luke Charters MP for York Outer, Jo Stevens, Secretary of State for Wales, Darren Paffey MP, Louise Jones MP, Dr Marie Tidball MP, Cllr Ben Miskill, Sheffield City Council's Transport Chair, and Cambridgeshire & Peterborough Mayor Dr. Nik Johnson for their time.
