We supported this event, hosted by Sheffield Hallam University and the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority to exchange of ideas promises to drive impactful change for our cities and regions. Thank you to all participants for their energy and commitment to making a difference.
Less than a month after publication of the government’s white paper on English #Devolution, the country’s elected mayors yesterday took an important step by coming together, in a spirit of collaboration, to address some of the biggest challenges facing our cities and regions. I was delighted that PwC UK was able to support, the inaugural ‘Mayoral Innovation Exchange’, to foster collaboration, enable innovation and share best practice. It was hosted by Sheffield Hallam University and the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, with an agenda shaped and facilitated by South Yorkshire Mayor, Oliver Coppard. I am grateful to the colleagues and external speakers who introduced and facilitated what proved to be a rich and wide-ranging series of conversations. Topics included: harnessing data to tackle health inequality and economic activity; procuring environmentally sustainable public transport fleets; and aligning local skills systems to support the delivery of critical infrastructure, such as new housing. This was the first time England’s elected mayors have come together since publication of the December 2024 white paper which places mayoral authorities at the forefront of delivering growth and raising living standards. It was an exciting opportunity to share ideas and to promote collaboration on ideas that could be a game-changer in the topics discussed. The energy and enthusiasm in the room were palpable, and feedback from participants confirms the value of the event. It was a true privilege to be part of the event and hear the determination of the Mayors to continue to make a difference. - This year's CEO Survey provides an important show of confidence in the UK as a place to invest and see growth. As world and business leaders, including our own Senior Partner Marco Amitrano, gather at the World Economic Forum in Davos - it's helping to support conversations that could make a difference for our businesses back home.

There is a fantastic atmosphere here the World Economic Forum in Davos as we launch our PwC CEO Survey. It carries important news for the UK, which is now seen as the second-most attractive global destination for international investment. This is the first time the UK has reached this spot in the 28-year history of the survey. It’s great to be able to share this with business leaders from across the world, discussing the opportunities that wait for them in the UK. This is a real vote of confidence and I’m highlighting three key factors that contribute to our success - our relative stability at a time of global instability; the strength of our key sectors including technology; and the innovative mindset of UK CEOs as they pursue growth. The full details are available in the report - I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did. https://pwc.to/4j972iC #CEOSurvey - The UK has been named the second-most attractive global destination for international investment.
