Today, SailGP announces a five-season global sponsorship with Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, which will see it become the exclusive Global Airline Partner - a first for the league. Emirates will continue as Title Partner of the Emirates Dubai Sail Grand Prix, taking place in Mina Rashid next weekend on November 23-24, as well as Title Partner for SailGP’s long-awaited return to the UK, bringing top-flight racing back to British shores from July 19-20, 2025 for the Emirates Great Britain Sail Grand Prix | Portsmouth. Congratulations to SailGP Season 4 Champions Diego Botín and Florian Trittel Paul [OLY] of the Spain SailGP Team on being named the 2024 ROLEX #WorldSailorOfTheYear! 🏆 Reflecting on their year at the World Sailing Awards in Singapore, Diego shared, “Everything came together in July for us, but it’s been a tough year...The minute we decided to go for SailGP and the Olympics at the same time, we knew both competitions could nurture us and make us better sailors...that is what made us strong enough to perform when we had to." Florian added, “Coming from last in the previous season to winning the championship was a representation of all the hard work that so many people had put into it. We are starting SailGP again very soon and looking forward to going against the big names in sailing again." Last week at the SVG Europe Future Sport event at Wimbledon, our Chief Content Officer at SailGP, Melissa Lawton, delivered a keynote on how SailGP is driving content and tech innovation to redefine fan engagement in sports. Melissa spoke about the integration of data and AI with SailGP’s content, saying, “SailGP collects data from our team boats to give announcers and directors real-time insights. With our AI tools, we can spot potential issues before they even happen. Some of our biggest moments come from what we weren’t even looking for, and with 5G cameras, viewers at home can now see the sea state in real-time, making it easier to predict race conditions alongside us.” She highlighted SailGP's focus on social media growth, especially with a new generation of athletes emerging. For the 2025 Season, SailGP is emphasizing documentaries and longer-form content to connect fans more deeply with these rising stars. Social media, she explained, not only introduces these athletes to audiences but also helps convert social engagement into loyal broadcast viewership.
