Using IP to attract investment and build business value | Protein Production Technology app.livestorm.co - 💡With the global demand for sustainable protein sources rising, precision fermentation is emerging as a key tool in alternative protein production. By leveraging microorganisms like bacteria, yeast, and fungi, scientists can create proteins, fats, and flavors for applications ranging from meat alternatives to infant formula. Although still in its early stages, the industry is growing fast, with companies like Liberation Labs leading the charge. As you will read in the enormous Q4 2024 edition of Protein Production Technology International, Liberation Labs is building a state-of-the-art biomanufacturing facility in Richmond, Indiana, specifically designed for precision fermentation to produce bio-based ingredients at a commercial scale. In our interview with CEO Mark Warner, he highlights that while the world has substantial fermentation capacity, much of it is outdated and unsuitable for modern food production. "We're building a platform designed for the performance required by today’s novel proteins," Warner explains. The company’s Richmond facility will start with a capacity of 600,000 liters and plans to expand significantly, aiming for 25 million liters of global capacity over the next decade. With efficient production processes and flexible operations, Liberation Labs is positioned to meet the growing demand for food proteins, offering cost-effective solutions for both food and non-food applications. 📰 Learn more about Liberation Lab's innovation in Protein Production Technology International now: https://hubs.ly/Q02XHcMj0 #PrecisionFermentation #Sustainability #Biomanufacturing #Innovation

📢 Time to sign up to this month's free-to-attend webinar, 'Using IP to attract investment and build business value', sponsored by HGF Limited, which takes place on Monday 25 November at 3pm London/4pm Berlin/10am New York City.https://hubs.ly/Q02XHb5h0⚖️ In today’s competitive food technology landscape, leveraging Intellectual Property (IP) is crucial for companies aiming to drive growth, attract investors, and secure a strong market presence. A strategic IP approach not only protects innovations but also enhances business resilience and supports long-term goals. Kerry Rees, Partner and Patent Attorney at HGF, will lead an insightful discussion with industry venture capitalists and pioneering alternative protein companies to explore how a tailored IP strategy can be a powerful tool for achieving key business objectives. 💶 We're really excited by this upcoming webinar and believe it's a must-attend for any food-tech company. How can food tech companies leverage IP beyond simple patent filing to create a defensible moat in a crowded market? What IP strategies have proven most effective for attracting and retaining investors in high-risk sectors like alternative proteins? How might companies balance the costs of building a robust IP portfolio with the need for rapid scaling and product development? What advice do venture capitalists have for startups on prioritizing IP versus other business objectives in the early stages? How does a robust IP portfolio influence investor perceptions of a food tech startup’s value and longevity? What value do investors place on IP in terms of exit potential—such as acquisition or IPO—and how does this impact funding opportunities? Speakers confirmed so far include Katarzyna (Kasia) Gil from Icos Capital, Jennifer Bailey, Kerry Rees plus more to be confirmed this week.#intellectualproperty #ip #alternativeproteins #foodtech #attractinginvestment
Using IP to attract investment and build business value | Protein Production Technology app.livestorm.co - 🌱 As you will read in the bumper Q4 2024 edition of Protein Production Technology International Jim Laird, CEO of ENOUGH is steering the company towards rapid growth with its sustainable mycoprotein ingredient, Abunda. 🍄 ENOUGH's mission is to support the global protein transition by collaborating across the food industry and offering a versatile, resource-efficient alternative to traditional proteins. Produced through fermentation, Abunda uses significantly fewer resources and serves as an ideal ingredient for plant-based meat and dairy alternatives. Michael Kilkie, Head of Culinary at ENOUGH, plays a crucial role in product development, working closely with partners to create high-quality, delicious alternatives. Kilkie highlights Abunda's culinary advantages, including its neutral taste, fibrous texture, and complete protein profile. “Abunda mimics the mouthfeel of meat, making it an excellent substitute in a wide range of plant-based dishes,” he notes. With their large-scale production facility in the Netherlands, ENOUGH is positioned to scale quickly, focusing on global expansion and meeting rising consumer demand for sustainable protein options. 👉 Dive into the ENOUGH's innovation in our Innovation Insight feature in the latest edition of Protein Production Technology International: https://hubs.ly/Q02X4h4z0 #Mycoprotein #Proteintransition #Fermentation #Scaling #Foodinnovation #Nutrition

🥛Ivor Lyons and Carla De Urrutia, founders of Alt Dairy, have taken a unique path in the alternative protein sector, building on their success in the fruit and vegetable industry. 🥕 Their company, ALT Dairy, emerged from their previous venture, Jumpin' Juice Ltd, when they identified a gap in the UK market for large-scale, alternative dairy products. ALT Dairy now supplies cashew, oat, and pistachio concentrates to the food manufacturing and catering industries. Their ultra-high-temperature (UHT) processing extends shelf life and enhances product safety, while their focus on larger pack sizes and high-concentration solutions makes operations more efficient. With growing demand for dairy-free products, ALT Dairy is well-positioned to lead the market, expanding into the EU and exploring innovative ingredients like seed milks. By staying competitive in price and supporting other manufacturers, they are helping drive the plant-based movement forward. 🤓 Dive into the ALT Dairy's innovation now in the latest edition of Protein Production Technology International: https://hubs.ly/Q02VY_Jg0 #Dairy #Plantbased #Nuts #Protein #Innovation #Sustainability
