More exciting news for Trainline customers in Spain 👇
I enjoyed an excellent series of meetings with policy makers and journalists in Madrid last week, and was proud to front up our latest announcement in person: at Trainline we are now selling tickets for "Cercanias", the commuter trains that operate in 12 Spanish cities and carried 450m passengers last year. Trainline is the only retailer that has integrated these commuter tickets into a single platform alongside Spain's high-speed and mid-distance rail services. Not only will this attract new audiences to Trainline, but it also underlines our credentials as Spain's one-stop online shop, making it easier to buy train tickets - whatever the journey and whoever the operator.
This is great news for both the #rail industry and the #BusinessTravel sector

And I’m proud that Trainline plays a major role in growing the market by unlocking all the options for passengers. It's our fave time of the year: the 2024 edition of Your Year in Trains is here! 🙌 To celebrate Trainline customers saving OVER 1 MILLION TONNES of CO2 last year, we took a deep dive into our data and built a personalised look-back at their unique and wonderful train travel habits. And here's a peak at some of the data we liked the most: 🥕 The 1 million tonnes of CO2 saved is the same as 13,164 people being vegan for life. 🚊 Those CO2 savings were spread across 5.5 billion miles of rail travel 💘 21% more people travelled on Valentine's Day in 2024 compared to the previous year 🧮 Almost 10,000 travellers visited over 100 different stations in 2024 🔠 23 Trainline customers aaaalmost visited stations starting with every letter of the alphabet - the missing letters are for stations starting X, Q, and J... More fantastic news from Spain 🇪🇸 🙌
This week saw another milestone in Spain's rapidly evolving rail market, as Ouigo released tickets for its new routes from Madrid to Seville and Malaga. From next month, Ouigo will be the fourth operator on this route bringing full choice to Spain's Southern Corridor. As we have seen so far, the impact of this additional competition will be great for the industry and customers – offering competitive prices, raising standards and service. That means more people are choosing train above plane. It's no wonder other major European rail markets are emulating this approach.
