Together to Zero. Hemiko invests in, designs, builds, operates and maintains district and communal heat networks. We have £1 billion of investment to deploy into town- and city-wide low carbon heat networks by 2030, working alongside communities, businesses and local authorities. We also provide metering and billing services, and consultancy services. Hemiko are partnered with DIF Capital Partners, an experienced infrastructure investor. We have successfully delivered over 100 energy projects across the UK, including development of district heat networks, low carbon power plants and operation of a heat utility. Hemiko has offices in London, Sheffield, Carlisle and Copenhagen. We bring extensive experience from the UK and Denmark. We are committed to net zero. Hemiko networks are designed to use energy from a range of waste heat and renewable sources, reducing our reliance on foreign-owned fossil fuels. Our guiding principles are: 1. Everything starts with a connection; 2. Our goal is to decarbonise towns and cities efficiently and at speed; 3. Integrity, flexibility and innovation remain core to what we do.

Pleased to see the coverage SWAN is receiving this week. The proposed heat network would play a substantial role in helping Westminster City Council achieve our 2040 net-zero city targets. After years of discussions, great to see things moving forward. SWAN could help decarbonise many of our iconic buildings in Westminster, including the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Tate Britain, Somerset Hosue and more - using heat sources that may include the Thames and the tube. Looking forward to the council working with Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, Hemiko and Vital Energi Utilities Limited to determine the exact footprint, design and timings to bring this to life.

Today we announced the launch of the South Westminster Area Network (SWAN) partnership marking a transformative step on the path to net-zero, impacting not only London but the entire UK. It’s an ambitious project that demonstrates our commitment to supporting the development of green infrastructure while creating jobs and boosting local economies. In the centre of London, SWAN has the potential to sustainably heat iconic sites like the Houses of Parliament and the National Gallery, helping lower costs, cut CO₂ emissions, and bring the UK closer to its Net Zero targets. With SWAN as a model, we’re building affordable, low-carbon energy solutions that will benefit communities and create a sustainable energy blueprint for years to come.https://lnkd.in/eN33Ambm London Heritage Quarter Department for Energy Security and Net Zero Hemiko Vital Energi Utilities Limited AECOM Westminster City Council Toby Heysham Nick Gosling
Underground air to heat London's iconic buildings - City AM https://www.cityam.com - It's the news the heat networks industry has been waiting for... announced today, the SWAN Partnership, a new joint venture between Hemiko and Vital Energi Utilities Limited will deliver one of the UK's first heat network zones. The South Westminster Area Network, or SWAN, will expand to supply low carbon heat to the full zone, which stretches from Victoria Station up to Temple Underground Station. It will see one of the UK's biggest heat networks developed in the nation's political capital. This is a scale of ambition that will be replicated in zones across the UK.Toby Heysham, CEO, Hemiko and spokesperson for the SWAN Partnership, said, “This network will be the flagship network in the UK, the first new zonal scale network in a market that offers an investment potential the size of the UK offshore wind industry. Steps like this show that the UK heat networks market is open for business."Nick Gosling, CSO, Vital Energi and spokesperson for the SWAN Partnership, said, “Heat networks are the most cost-effective way to decarbonise our densely populated cities. The Government’s heat network zoning regulations, introduced last year as part of the Energy Act, have now created the right market conditions for private sector investment." The network was brought to life by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero and Westminster City Council, who ran a competitive procurement exercise earlier this year, which the SWAN Partnership won. It took just 4 months from launching the competitive process to signing the contract for SWAN and beginning the development work, five times faster than most procurement exercises run to date. A positive sign of the speed that zoning will bring to the UK heat networks market. The project has been supported by London Heritage Quarter, who represent the four local business improvement districts in the area. London HQ have been engaging local businesses, to encourage them to sign up to the heat network. AECOM has also been providing technical and engagement support to the network - helping to craft the vision for the network. https://lnkd.in/eSH2EmGx #heatnetworks #districtheating #netzero #energy #decarbonisation #lowcarbon #westminster #london #news

We got the mops out this weekend, as we hosted not one, not two, but three MPs at the Worthing Heat Network - one of whom is a cabinet minister! Thanks to Beccy Cooper, Tom Rutland and Peter Kyle for coming to visit.Christopher Horner, Construction Project Manager for the Worthing Heat Network, said, "I am so proud of my team who are working to deliver this heat network. A lot of them live locally in the West Sussex area, and grew up and went to school here, myself included. I'm so pleased that, by the end of the year, we expect to have over 30 people employed from within the local area, and that's just on phase one. By 2050, I expect we'll have hired 500 local people on this project." Chris added, "it's the hard work of our local team that means the Worthing Heat Network is being delivered on time and under budget." #heatnetworks #districtheating #netzero #energy #worthing #gbenergy #togethertozero - On Saturday, we hosted Peter Kyle MP, Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, and Beccy Cooper, MP for Worthing West at the Worthing Heat Network. The Worthing Heat Network is saving 3,000 tonnes of CO2 every year, just from the first phase alone. Over time, it will expand to offer low carbon heating to everyone in town. Heat networks are the cheapest way to decarbonise a town like Worthing. Some facts: 🔃 Heat networks operate in symbiosis with other local utilities and technologies. The heat network will collect heat that already exists but is not being used, and use it to heat buildings. Initially heat will come from a large air source heat pump. For the next phases, we plan to take heat from the wastewater treatment works, the sea, and data centres. 🚀 In just four months, we have awarded £1.7m in local supply chain contracts to businesses in West Sussex (with more to come!) 👷♀️By the end of 2024, we will have 32 local people employed on the Worthing Heat Network (and more in our supply chain!) Thanks to Peter and Beccy for coming to visit our hardworking team here in Worthing, who have kept this project being delivered on time and under budget. - Yesterday, we hosted Tom Rutland, MP for East Worthing and Shoreham at the Worthing Heat Network, where we announced that Hemiko has, in just four months, invested £1.7m into the local West Sussex supply chain... with more to come! Annwen Adams, BA, MA. Connections Manager for Worthing said "It's really important to us to make sure that the community sees the benefits of projects like this. Heat networks are a local growth story. In just four months, we have awarded contracts worth £1.7m to the local supply chain here in West Sussex. We are also working with local schools and children's groups on education initiatives. We are particularly looking forward to helping the local Scouts Troop achieve their climate and sustainability badge." Thanks Tom for joining us, and celebrating the major milestones we are making to decarbonise Worthing, whilst delivering local jobs and growth. Thanks also to Christopher Horner, Charlotte Owen, George Lakidis, and all of our brilliant local team in Worthing who made it possible. #heatnetworks #districtheating #jobs #growth #GBEnergy #netzero #worthing
