- EMMA ORR It was great to catch up with Melissa King on behalf of Zapier to contribute to this article on the role of the generalist vs specialist. This is a very common topic amongst bid professionals and one which I see from both angles. I currently specialise within clean technology specifically e-mobility, solar & storage. But I have also worked across multiple sectors - Energy, Defence, and the Built Environment specifically. Some people naturally prefer the idea of the generalist over the specialist, here are my pros for both: GENERALIST ✅ A diverse skillset enabling tasks to be completed with ease which encourages resourcefulness, 😍 The holistic perspective which allows for greater strategic planning & management, as well as seeing the 'bigger picture', 🎈 There is an ease of collaboration which comes from working across different fields and interdisciplinary projects. SPECIALIST ☑ Professional Networks are strong leading to valuable collaborations, partnerships & further opportunities, ❤️ In-depth knowledge and understanding in their field of expertise which leads to high-quality work and an ease of problem solving, 🦋 Precision and efficiency are evident when tasks can be delivered faster with improved results. Take a look at the article below, well worth a read, with my perspective as well as that of my fellow contributors: generalist vs specialist ❓ https://lnkd.in/eaBpS9hT #zapier #businessdevelopment #salesstrategy #bidding ❤️ I don’t get press coverage every week but when I do, I like to share the details!
