Who are the stars replacing Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard on This Morning? (original) (raw)

Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley waved goodbye to This Morning viewers as they head on their first summer break.

The main This Morning hosts have been fronting the daily chat show Monday to Thursday at 10am from when they joined their jobs in March earlier this year. As the summer season is upon us, the duo now are heading off on their summer holidays.

This Morning’s editor Martin Frizell said: "Viewers will not want to miss a moment this summer! The shows will be packed and whatever the weather, the team in front of the cameras and behind will deliver plenty of content to keep the nation smiling.

"I’m delighted Alison and Dermot are kicking things off and together with our brilliant family of hosts – made up of the biggest names in TV – they will be serving up really exciting content on Britain's biggest daytime show."

Some very famous faces from This Morning will be stepping in to fill their presenting roles over the summer period. We take a look at who is going to be replacing the stars while they are on their summer break.

Deeley and Shephard will return to ITV's This Morning on 2 September. The same week, Hammond and O'Leary will return to their hosting duties on a Friday, first starting the 6 September.

Hammond and O'Leary usually host This Morning on Fridays, and they will be this week, but from next week they are kicking off the holiday cover for Deeley and Shephard on Monday 15 July.

The Great British Bake Off star first become part of the This Morning family in 2002 but she has been presenting Fridays alongside her co-star since 2021 when Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes were axed. Now exes Langsford and Holmes were dropped from This Morning after 14 years. However, Hammond has quickly become a fan favourite presenter on This Morning after delighting everyone with her hosting stint on The Great British Bake Off.

O'Leary also has been part of the This Morning family for some time. His days of presenting on This Morning go back to 2014 when he guest presented with Holly Willoughby while Phillip Schofield was off sick.

Rochelle Humes and Joel Dommett

Rochelle Humes and Joel Dommett will also be joining forces to present This Morning over the summer period. Famously, Humes replaced Willoughby while she was filming Down Under for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here in 2018 when Ant McPartlin took a break from the show. The mum loves to guest host on This Morning and has been a regular on the show since 2018. Her first ever appearance on This Morning was alongside her musician husband Marvin Humes in 2013.

Meanwhile, Dommett is fairly new to the This Morning family as he filled in for the first time last year. The Masked Singer host said he loved being on This Morning. He told The Sun in October: "It was genuinely fun. I enjoy, as a comic, approaching scenarios where you’re going from what would be seen as a funny segment to shifting to a quite serious mode. I relished that challenge. I just need to keep working hard and not be an a***hole."

Sian Welby and Craig Doyle

Sian Welby and Craig Doyle will also be bursting onto our screens this summer to host This Morning. While she's only just given birth via emergency C-section to her daughter Ruby, Welby returned to This Morning to give her first interview about becoming a mum for the first time.

She told Shephard and Deeley: "I originally was planning to have a water birth, because obviously you can try and plan what you're gonna have, but then it boils down to what's the safest way. And in the end I did actually have an emergency C-section. But I felt so safe."

She added: "And this is where, we have the most incredible NHS, and they just look after you. I just said I will do whatever is the safest delivery for this baby. I just want what's best for them."

Welby had been one of the frontrunners to become one of the main presenters of This Morning but she lost out to Deeley. In a surprise turn of events, the radio star found out she was pregnant with her first child.

Doyle is also a familiar face on This Morning. He first started out on This Morning presenting the competitions but now he has been seen presenting the main show. Doyle will also partner up with Josie Gibson over the summer.

Josie Gibson and Rylan Clark

Gibson will also present alongside fan favourite Rylan. Both the stars are part of the This Morning family and they are also good friends with each other in real life.

Before the permanent hosts for This Morning were announced, Rylan admitted he didn't want the job because he loves to sleep in. He told Yahoo: "I worked at This Morning for what, six years and then I left and I got used to sleeping in and now it's so nice to be able to just pop in for a week, see everyone, have a lovely time, give away some money and then go home and at the end of the day if I do anything wrong, ain't my show don’t care!"

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV, ITVX, STV and STV Player.
