It's the love triangle that has somehow formed the backbone of Emily in Paris's entire storyline, and now the Netflix show is heading into a fourth season with Emily's romantic dilemma still unresolved.

Gabriel or Alfie? That's the question on every fan's lips, but each time Emily Cooper (Lily Collins) has got closer to making a decision, an increasingly outlandish spanner has been thrown in the works.

Yet somehow, whether you're Team Gabriel or Team Alfie has remained a compelling question for the much-maligned show's devoted following, with many feeling that while Emily has the greater sexual chemistry with Gabriel, as he's a serial cheater Alfie is probably the better option.

Before Alfie was even a character in Emily in Paris, there was Emily and Gabriel.

Season one saw the US marketing exec move to Paris, where she struggled to fit in but after a number of brief flings realised her true attraction was to her chef neighbour Gabriel (Lucas Bravo).

In fact, Emily even ended her relationship with her boyfriend back in Chicago for him but then found out he had a girlfriend, Camille (Camille Razat) who she had already met.

The first season ended with Gabriel about to move to Normandy for work and Emily revealing her feelings for him.

By season two, Emily was determined not to continue things with Gabriel and met British businessman Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) - although their budding relationship was cut short when he had to move back to London.

In many ways, Alfie seemed like a better bet than Gabriel, but they didn't quite have the same chemistry.

Alfie asked Emily to agree to a long-distance relationship, but feeling confused, she tried to return to Gabriel - only to find he had got back together with Camille.

Season three saw the love triangle continue, as Emily tried to make a go of things with Alfie who was back in London as well as juggling a friendship with Gabriel and Camille.

Despite Emily and Gabriel's continued feelings for each other being obvious, he proposed to Camille...who Emily had seen kissing artist Sofia.

In the season cliffhanger, Camille called off her relationship at their engagement party by publicly telling Gabriel to see where things could go with Emily, while she chose to get together with Sofia.

However, Camille then discovered she was pregnant, leaving Emily's romantic angst continuing as she had no idea whether Gabriel would return to Camille, or if Alfie would still be interested.

Fans are excited to see whether Emily will finally make a decision in season four and what unexpected drama will unfold next.
