UFC Vegas 117 video: Juan Diaz chokes Malcolm Wellmaker for upset win (original) (raw)
Malcolm Wellmaker took another hit at UFC Fight Night 276 in the form of an upset from promotional newcomer Juan Diaz.
After Wellmaker's (10-2 MMA, 2-2 UFC) hot octagon start was thwarted by Ethyn Ewing in November, he experience another setback from the debuting Diaz (16-1-1 MMA, 1-0 UFC), who finished the fight at the 4:08 mark of Round 2 with a rear-naked choke in the bantamweight bout at Meta APEX in Las Vegas.

Although much of the post-fight storyline will be around Wellmaker's fall, it appears Diaz, who had former UFC champion Brandon Moreno in his corner, is a prospect to watch.
"Emotional are high, I trained so hard," Diaz said through an interpreter in his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier. "I'm a complete fighter. I can wrestle, I'm not just a striker. I'm a complete fighter and very dangerous."
