Controversies in the historical discourse are caused by both the reasons for the introduction of a restrictive law, which has no equivalent in other parts of the Roman empire, and its actual reception. The conducted analysis questioned the appropriacy of using the passage from De aedeficiis of Procopius of Caesarea as an example of the practical application of this law and, based on the epistolography of Pope Gregory, determined the hypothetical terminus ante quem of its validity.

The turn towards the recipient as an equal participant in museum discourse, considered in the context of the subjectivity of access and ways of describing the past, and of bringing history closer to art, by assigning them the same evaluation criteria, leads to the question of the place of the term "historical truth" in the museum space.

Victor of Tunnuna, Liberatus of Carthage, and the author of selected biographies in Liber Pontificalis focused in their works primarily on the issues of religious policy of the empire and described the person of the ruler throughout this prism. Considerations on the parallel monophysite source tradition allow for a hypothesis about the schematicism of creating the image of Theodora as the main enemy of Chalcedonian orthodoxy.

The experience gained by him in managing large administrative units of Pars Orientis was probably the reason for entrusting him with the task of organizing administrative structures in the areas of the Vandal kingdom conquered by Belisarius. The course of Archealos’ career may be a starting point for considering possibility taking positions of lower rank by the highest officials of the Empire. Also shedding light on the issue of their mobility within the administrative apparatus.

In comparison to the state known from the fifth century, the legislation of emperor Justinian introduced many changes in the administration scheme, primarily by establishing the prefectures of Africa, which replaced the diocese that had functioned previously. After the year 533, some provinces that hat previously belonged to other territorial units during the late Roman Empire, for example Sardinia and Corsica, passed to the authority of the prefect of Cartage. The research results presented in the article are intended to trace the territorial changes of African provinces during the sixth century, as well as the titles of their governors and the scope of their competence.

The sources used in the study: Breviarium by Liberatus of Carthage and the Chronicon by Victor of Tonnunna, were written by the authors who were directly involved in the ongoing confl ict, which put an end to the church schism at the Second Council of Constantinople. The article presents the fi ndings of the secondary literature on the participation of the Pope in condemning the 'Three Chapters', analyzes the above sources and confronts them with other relations of western and eastern historians. Finally, the author advances a thesis about the creation and presence of the negative image of Vigilius, especially in the Western Church.

and patrician in the Eastern Roman Empire, in the Emperor Leo’s election.
After a detailed investigation of various source traditions which give information on
the election of 457, it proceeds to an analysis of factors leading to the Alan commander’s
exceptional position in the power structure of the Empire. The main thesis
of the article is that the holding of the highest-ranking military and civil offices by the
two figures of the Ardabur family allowed Aspar to achieve the election of an ordinary
tribune. This view is further confirmed by a discussion of Leo I’s appointment policy
pursued in the years 458–465, which resulted in the monopolization of the state administration
by the Ardabur family and their followers, as well as to certain legislative
initiatives undertaken by Aspar.""
