The Danube was intensively used for communication, and numerous interactions with the west-Hallstatt environment can be observed from the beginning of the Hallstatt period in this region. This contribution identifies objects and elements, which could be assessed as influences from the western Hallstatt culture into the northeastern Alpine region. It discusses the rate of acceptance and integration of western components into the development and representation of the Hallstatt culture. It analyses chronological and chorological aspects of these relations, which are projected on distribution maps. The most important communication route mediating those impulses was the Danube communication, which was intensively used during the Early Iron Age.
