Mr Mibbler 'Leave Your Thoughts Here' CD (NXN Recordings) 5/5 - ukvibe - astral travelling since 1993 (original) (raw)

There’s a long, winding, ancient road that heads off into the distance, stretching way beyond the horizon. Caught in the glimmer of sunlight, hazy, disappearing into the hills, it’s impossible for the naked eye to see where it might lead. Perhaps it never ends. Or maybe it stops suddenly, at the end of the world. Who knows. All that can be said, is that the focus now needs to be on the journey itself, not the destination. Welcome to the world of Mr Mibbler.

Catching fleeting ideas out of thin air, building impressive constructions that hover on the brink of collapse, yet growing stronger by the second as ideas merge and formulate, Mr Mibbler ply their trade with unnerving skilfulness and sublime technique. “Leave your thoughts here” is their third album, building handsomely on their previous release “The Long Journey”. For this recording, Norwegian musicians and producers Thom Hell, Jorn Raknes and Vidar Ersfjord invited a number of first-class Norwegian musicians to play around in their musical world, to walk with them for a while on their unforeseen journey into the distance. To create, to share, and to record their wonderful collaborations. Folk, jazz, ambient and electronica all collide seamlessly along the way. Zero7 meets Floating Points meets Nordic cool. All in the space of ten mouth-watering pieces of music.

Imagine… thoughtful and reflective soundwaves bouncing gently like pebbles rising and falling as the tide turns on a distant shore. Nils Petter Molvaer meets Mr Mibbler.

Imagine… walking through a Japanese water garden. Misty, atmospheric shafts of light sparkling through rustic leaves. Water droplets gently dancing. Andreas Ulvo meets Mr Mibbler.

Imagine… tall cacti that hang down creating spell-binding shadows against a cracked desert floor. The man in black, lonesome, looking for his own personal oasis. Knut Reidrsrud meets Mr Mibbler.

Imagine… primordial creatures partying into the night. A festival of chameleons lighting the night sky like colourful, charismatic, clandestine caricatures. Lindstrom meets Mr Mibbler.

Imagine… magical fires glowing intensely, slowly melting into the ice upon which they were dancing. Rings of colour flicker and fade, leaving a pool of memories and reflections. Anja Garbarek meets Mr Mibbler.

Imagine… a pied piper calling. From the mountains he comes, singing his strange songs of coercion, happily beckoning all living things to follow him across a hidden land, far, far away. Mathias Eick meets Mr Mibbler.

Imagine… the drunken sailor who’s fought too many battles, telling his sad stories of old to anyone who still cares to listen. Time and tide passed him by many years hence, his weathered face telling more tales that his words ever could. Jorgen Munkeby meets Mr Mibbler.

Imagine… a simple thought that collects itself in the mind, working its way deeper and deeper into the soul of all things. Clarity of thought? Or madness? Or just perhaps, the same thing. Sigmund Groven meets Mr Mibbler.

Imagine…. being reunited with a loved one who you never thought you’d see again. Rolling back the years, fighting back the tears, the gnarled, knotted old heart pumping like there’s no tomorrow. Bjorn Klakegg meets Mr Mibbler.

Imagine… waking up to find you are the only person left on the planet. Erik Honore meets Mr Mibbler.

And as darkness falls maybe we should rest awhile. Taking in our surroundings we see that we are not so alone. The trees offer us shelter. The gentle rain gives us enough water to drink from. The fruits on the nearby bushes offer nourishment. And so we will sleep, content in the knowledge that today we have journeyed well. And tomorrow we shall journey some more. And until then, I shall close my eyes, and leave my thoughts here.
