update on challenges

In case you hadn't noticed, there hasn't been another challenge posted. I didnt forget about it; I've just been unable to give this comm the attention it needs, so......
I am putting ultimate_lims on a short hiatus. Due to illness from preganancy, I have been unable to do all the things required to run this community successfully & in an organized way. The posts have been sporadic & disoraganized, and that just isn't how I like to run my communties. I still haven't even done the master list of contestants :/
I am NOT forgetting about this comm. I will absolutely been resuming challenges as soon as I possibly can (which hopefully will only be a couple more weeks).

LIMS: Challenge 4 VOTING

The rules are a little different this challenge, so BE SURE TO READ THE RULES! We had a lot of people use their skips this time too..heh, so there are only 58 icons this time.
Rules:
You are still voting for the LESSER QUALITY icons, but this time you should be looking for different things. There are no brushes, light effects, trends or text to judge. You are just voting on quality here. Cropping is NOT important. Things to looks for: how much has the clarity been improved upon, how did they handle the coloring(the oversaturation of red in the orginal cap), the contrast/brightness & sharpness. I have inlcuded the orginal cap to make for easier comparison. If the icon looks like it was just cropped & nothing else was done to it, then that is a sufficient reason to vote for it. If you have questions about voting, PLEASE ASK because I know this may be a bit confusing.
eta: Yeah I forgot that important detail of how many to vote for :/ You are voting for FIVE (5) icons!!!!
Reasons to vote for an icon:
99. face is still too blurry & lacks clarity
88. icon looks like it has no coloring improvement done to it.
77. too sharp & jagged-like
If you'd also like to include your favorite icon while voting, you may do so. :)

RULES:
01. You may only participate if you made it through round 3.
02. Must follow LJ-dimension rules: no more than 100x100 or 40kb. Do not share your icon anywhere before this challenge is over.
03. Brushes, textures, stock images are NOT allowed for this round.
04. Your icon must be submitted by SUNDAY, APLRIL 2ND at 8:00PM(MST)/10:00PM(EST).
05. Your icon must be submitted as a comment to this post. Feel free to ask any questions, but please do so in a separate comment than your entry! Comments are screened.
06. You can use your SKIP if you'd like to. Just remember, you're only allowed ONE SKIP. Also, if you didn't sign up at the SKIP post when you were supposed to, and are not on our original SKIP list, you do not have a skip. Again, not everyone is entitled to a free pass. You had a chance to get your skip and if you missed it you do not have a skip.
Challenge 4: This challenge is going to be a bit different. I'm going to provide a screencap for you. This is your warning: the photo quality of the cap is going to be bad on purpose. Your challenge is to clean up the photo as much as you can and make it into a clean, workable base. PLEASE, do not complete the icon with text, brushes, etc. Just clean up the icon, crop it into a 100x100 square and make it look pretty without adding anything to it. If color is part of how you clean up screencaps, you can use it, but it should look as normal and neutral as possible. Keep the color, black and white bases are not allowed.
The cap is from the TV show; Buffy The Vampire Slayer. The episode is Season 5's Fool For Love. The cap is of Spike (played by James Marsters) from the Boxer Rebellion.

Ok those who didn't get their icons in & who didn't have a skip to use, you are unfortunately disqualified. If you are using your skip this challenge please leave a comment if you can (it makes it much easier to stay organized this way). On to the voting....

If you do not follow the rules and provide an explanation as to why you've voted the icon off, your vote WILL NOT be counted. If we find that your reasoning is biased toward an individual icon maker or an individual style you may not like, your vote will NOT be counted. Again, you're voting SIX (6) icons off this time, and must provide a brief explanation as to why you voted for them. COMMENTS ARE SCREENED.
3.Please also vote for your one favorite in the poll.

It's time to vote for challenge 2! PLEASE read the rules carefully before voting.
13 people didn't submit their icons, which leaves us with 97 people left.
Now, here are the rules of voting:

Also, I just want to apologize for the time mix ups. Sara lives 2 hours behind me, so when it's midnight my time, it's only 10 PM her time. I have to get the challenges, voting and results up earlier sometimes because I work very early in the morning. With Sara sick, I'm trying to lift as much burden from her as I can and with your patience and help it would make everything much easier for both Sara and myself. Again, I apologize for saying the challenge would end at 12 and changing it last minute, but work comes first and I'm sorry for anyone that didn't get their icon in on time for that reason. If you haven't gotten your icon in and you have a skip, please let us know.
One more thing. About skips. We've gotten a few people asking for skips who never signed up at the SKIP POST back when it was posted. For the record, no one gets a free skip. You had to sign up to that post and promote/plug this community somewhere so people would sign up and enter. The skip is NO LONGER AVALIABLE TO ANYONE, so if you never signed up, you DO NOT have a skip. Feel free to ask if you have any questions about this.

Ultimate LIMS: Challenge 2

Overview:
1.) Standard rules will apply. This means all icons must conform to LJ-dimensions: no larger than 40k or 100x100 size. It, of course, can be smaller, but not larger. Finally, it means that you canNOT share your icon anywhere else before that current challenge is finished. If for some reason you do, you will be disqualified.
2.) You will have approx 5 days to get your icon done & entered. Your icon MUST be turned in by specified time or you will unfortunately be disqualified. Then voting will take place. Voting will a little more than 24 hours, but I'll go through those rules when I post the poll....and remember you will be voting for the worst icon.
3.) All icons are to be submitted via screened comment to the corresponding post. So you will all submit your Challenge #1 entries to THIS POST and this post only! Please include both the url & the actual image.All comments will be screened.
4.) Ask any questions you might have in a separate comment than your icon. Please don't hesitate to ask, if there's any confusion or whatnot.
