Congratulations to Om Hitendra Mahajan on his new WUCA record for Leh to Manali, India
Rider summary
I am Om Hitendra Mahajan, the record I attempted “Fastest Cycling from Leh to Manali”. From the very beginning the temperatures were very low and the terrain was demanding with 4 major passes to cross, gaining over 6000m of elevation. I started the record attempt from “leh main gate” at 6:00 AM on 22nd July 2021. I wanted to test my capabilities as an ultra-cyclist and gain experience for further events which is why I attempted this record. I used my BMC Team Machine SLR ONE Road Bike and my GIANT XTC Advanced MTB for this attempt. I relied on liquid nutrition and fruits. Attempting this record was very difficult hence finishing it was the best part. Crossing the Taglang la at an altitude of 5,328 m was the hardest part of the record. The most unusual part of the attempt was being affected by around 18 cramps in both my legs.
I finished the attempt at the Mall Road Market in Manali on rd 23 July 2021, 9:55 AM.
