This paper presents a novel method for optimizing the energy consumption of robotic manufacturing systems. The method embeds detailed evaluations of robots' energy consumptions into a scheduling model of the overall system. The energy consumption for each operation is modeled and parameterized as function of the operation execution time, and the energy-optimal schedule is derived by solving a mixed-integer nonlinear programming problem. The objective function for the optimization problem is then the total energy consumption for the overall system. A case study of a sample robotic manufacturing system and an experiment on an industrial robot are presented. They show that there exists a real possibility for a significant reduction of the energy consumption in comparison to state-of-the-art scheduling approaches.

Vegetation indices obtained from remote sensing data can help to summarize climate conditions. Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs), as a soft computing methods, are one of the most efficient methods for computing as compared to the statistical and analytical techniques for spectral data. This study was employed experimental radial basis function (RBF) of ANN models and adaptive neural-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) to design the network in order to predict the soil plant analysis development (SPAD), protein content and grain yield of wheat plant based on spectral reflectance value and to compare two models. Results indicated that the obtained results of RBF method with high average correlation coefficient (0.984, 0.981 and 0.9807 in 2015 for SPAD, yield and protein, respectively and 0.979, 0.9805 and 0.984 in 2016) and low RMSE (0.271, 103.315 and 0.111 in 2015 for SPAD, yield and protein, respectively and 0.407, 105.482 and 0.121 in 2016) has the high accuracy and high performance compared to ANFIS models.

For more than three decades, researchers have been studying the factors that produce and influence the aroma of rice. An electronic nose can be used to detect the volatile compounds of rice, while an olfactory machine is capable of classifying and detecting the variety, origin, and storage time of rice with a high degree of efficiency. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of electronic noses and other chemometric methods such as principal component analysis, linear discriminant analysis, and the Artificial Neural Network as a cost-effective, rapid, and non-destructive method for the detection of pure and adulterated rice varieties. Therefore, an electronic nose equipped with nine metal oxide semiconductor sensors with low power consumption was used. The results showed that the amount of variance accounted for by PC1 and PC4 was 98% for the samples used. Also, the classification accuracy of the linear discriminant analysis and Artificial Neural Network methods were 100%, respectively. The Support Vector Machines method (including Nu-SVM and C-SVM) was also used, which, in all its functions except the polynomial function, produced 100% accuracy in terms of training and validation.

The main purpose of this study is to investigate the possibility of determining of tomato nitrogen deficiency during the growing season using a digital camera and digital image processing. Using these methods causes less damage to the plant. Though, using this technology requires accurate and continuous determination of plant nitrogen status on the farm during of growth stages. Therefore 18 plots of Spring tomato by six different levels of fertilization (0, 60, 120, 180, 240, 300 Kg/ha) with three repetition in completely randomized designs were sown in plastic pots with a diameter of 25 cm. It was attempted to be fertilized after the growing wheat in generative step of plant. The nitrogen content of leaves was measured by two methods; 1-using chlorophyll meter (SPAD) and 2- doing Kjel...

Available techniques for rice variety identification are time consuming and expensive; also there are destructive. So study and presentation of new methods sounds necessary. Therefor the aim of this reaserch was extraction of color, morphological and texture properties for thirteen common varieties of Iranian rice and classification them using computational intelligence. In this research, digital images of twelve common rice varieties in Iran acquisitioned at three states including paddy, brown rice and white rice. After the preprocessing and segmentation processes on images using MATLAM software ninety two properties extracted for each rise seed; contain sixty color properties, fourteen morphologica...

Analytical quantification of these components using common destructive methods is expensive and time consuming. In this study, the feasibility of using near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy at the range of 930-1650nm was assessed to measure the lycopene and vitamin C contents of intact cv. Newton tomatoes. To develop prediction models based on spectral data and analytical measurements achieved using common destructive methods, partial least squares (PLS) regression was utilized. Before modeling, some pre-processing techniques were also used to reduce the irrelevant data from the spectra. The prediction accuracy of the models was evaluated using root mean square error of cross validation (RMSECV), correlation coefficient (rcv) and residual predictive deviation (RPD). The best prediction models had RMSECV of 2.256 μg g-1 and 1.087 mg 100g-1, rcv of 0.840 and 0.818, and RPD of 1.835 and 1.701 for lycopene and vitamin C contents,...
