We have ideas and feelings about how others think about our looks. Your overall body image can range from very positive to very negative. We do not develop our body image all on our own. The people around us and our culture strongly influence it. We get both positive and negative messages about our bodies from family and friends all the time, starting from when we’re very young. We also get messages about body image from television, magazines, films, and other media. Many of the beliefs we have about the way women and men “should” look come from the models and celebrities we see in the media.

It is a means of transforming the mind. By engaging with a particular meditation practice an individual will learn the patterns and habits of their mind, and the practice offers a means to cultivate new, more positive ways of being. With regular work and patience these nourishing, focused states of mind can deepen into deeply peaceful and energized states of mind. Such experiences can have a transformative effect and can lead to a new understanding of life

This paper discusses a brief history of augmentative alternative communication (AAC) devices. The ultimate goal of an AAC intervention is to enable individuals to efficiently and effectively engage in a variety of interactions. Communication is a critical element of staying connected to society and is the tool for redefining one’s self. This paper discusses the history of AAC, as well as etiologies that may benefit from AAC use. Without access to speech, individuals are severely restricted within communication and participation in all aspects of life. Furthermore, new mobile technology such as the iPad has brought AAC into the mainstream. The iPad and other mobile technologies provide powerful new tools to potentially enhance communication for individuals with developmental disabilities, acquired neurogenic disorders, and degenerative neurological conditions. A brief comparison between today's mobile technologies and traditional AAC devices such as the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) and the Voice Output Communication Device (VOCD) proves which speech generating device (SGD) is more beneficial to individuals that require AAC.

Research at major medical centers over the past few years have shown remarkable results in the treatment of conditions such as depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and anxiety. Psychedelic drugs provide a path of treatment that is often more effective and rapid than other methods, and with many fewer side effects than pharmaceutical options. This paper will be focusing on hallucinogens such as lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), and psilocybin and entheogens such as ayahuasca and ibogaine.
